Leeds have lost 5 of their last 6 - some of them games were winnable too and have a nightmare set of fixtures coming up. Burnley have lost the last 3 but have some winnable home games coming up. The problem is that they just seem so toothless going forward. Wouldn’t surprise me if they lose their next 3 (Brentford away, Palace home, you lot away). Wolves are done. They’ve already played the 3 promoted sides, got beat every game, and have 2 points from 12. Yesterday perfect example though. Leeds were better v Villa yesterday and lost a game where Sunderland haven't been as good yet won/drawn. You've got the points on the board which should just about see you fine, but you're way over-achieving based on most metrics. Optimistic Nut
3rd fewest touches in oppositions box. 5th lowest passes made. 2nd fewest chances created. 2nd lowest expected goals scored. 4th most shots conceded. Fewest shots on target in the league. 4th fewest expected points. I didn't want you here, but you're here now so well done. Welcome.
OpenC
4th fewest expected points but 7th in the league tells you something about the value of those expectations mind

There have also been a number of absolute sitters missed by opposition teams in their games. I know every team have games where this happens, but nowhere near the amount this lot have had. The table does lie in their aspect and we will see that hitting home in the next couple of months.
pinkeye
I think their league position and set of surprising results is in no small way thanks to their goal keeper. They are conceding chances and shots against them like hell but, the keeper seems to be pretty decent. Oh ..... and of course their new tag line; " 'til the end " That will be what it is ! Sadly across the nation Sunderland's identity nowadays is probably framed by the Brexit night referendum count, and the gullible celebrating the division and economic hardship it was about to bring, especially in deprived areas of the north east - oh the irony. deejeck
I don't remember any of this, but I read somewhere recently that they held a fan vote twenty-odd years ago to choose a nickname for the club, with black cats winning the vote. If that's true, then having to manufacture something like that seems like such an odd thing to have to do.

Second place in the vote was 'FTM'.

If he's a world class keeper, then this might be sustainable. Giving shots away knowing the keeper will save loads while nicking the odd goal, fair play. If he's over-performing, it won't last. I'm probably an outlier on here of not going for the results are all that matters line. If the performances arent there you will get found out for it and it's not usually a temporary downward step.
