Aye its the shit banter and the fact they've said nowt for ages. Over the last few years I've never opened my mouth or bragged to the mackems I know, yet as soon as they get a result or we have a bump, me phone gans off!

Thats the cycle. In a different universe to them for most of the 90s, KK beat them every time then they win one game and finish a few places above us and I regretted not rubbing their noses in the dirt the way they do over the slightest thing. Then made the same mistake all over again 01-Ashley. Seemed obvious when we were playing champions league games in March while they were breaking record low points and getting relegated that the day was ours. Will never learn that small victories over us IS their champions league, KK era, cup finals/wins.

Is that not just an urban myth? We won them all under Keegan when we were flying for example, Spurs have been dominated by Arsenal the last few years, City got some hidings off Man United in the 90s too.

Yep. They’ve won five of the last six, but before that (when we were better) they won four of the previous 15 or 16.

Were we on a pretty shit run going into the cup derby a couple of years ago or is that my imagination? Fully accept they hadn't signed their new team of wuld beayters at that point so not a fair comparison

Our record immediately prior was

P8

W1

D1 (lost penalty shootout)

L6

GF 9

GA 17

GD -8

Crucially, although the home form wasn't that bad (boxing day Chris Wood hat trick aside) he away form was horrific. 3 wins out of 16 (and that's including psg as a win because I'm petty like that.)

Difference then was that although the results were poor, the team fielded was at least putting a shift in every game which the fans appreciated and there was a genuine injury crisis as well. That isn't the case now.

The game itself last time started off fairly scrappy but there was a 10 minute spell just before the first goal where Joelinton stepped up and ahowed he was bigger, stronger, harder and better than them, and it was his ball and sunderland weren't allowed to play with it. Eased us into the game and we took control. This time around there isn't as big a gap quality between the two teams, Joelinton is 2 years older/slower and they will also be more robust themselves. But mainly the limp surrenders of our last two away games has to be cause for concern. If the players turn up with that attitude on the 14th then we'll get hammered about 7-0.

Mackems form was terrible going into last derby too, even if they had stared this season shit and we had started well it would still be much tougher this time.

They were 6th in the League and unbeaten in 3. Their previous 8 games before playing us was W4 D2 L2. That's not terrible by any stretch of the imagination.

I remember being in Milan when news filtered through they'd appointed Howard Wilkinson.

Interesting to see that their ‘greatest player in 30 years’ is currently on four yellows.

Absolute meltdowns if he were to get his fifth away to Man City on 6th Dec.

He'll get it out the way early for exactly that reason

Probably worth sticking it on your bet builders for the next few games. Gave this as a tip, didn't bet on it myself, it came in almost immediately

If Gundogan happens to "accidently" get himself booked today he'll be suspended for Burnley and back for Man U, so there may be value in betting on that specifically

As I do not have 124 loyalty points :(

I have booked to watch the match in the NX on Westgate Road...

I watched the last time we played them at the Fed which was great but, it was a bit of a pain to get to as one of us had to drive.  Think the City Centre location will make for a good afternoon of entertainment as long as the team turns up on the day!!

Noticed that The Stack was going to make the day a ticketed event as well...   Anyone heading to Newcastle to watch this should probably make some plans in order to avoid disappointment..

On form well they should win, they are becoming cocky and that never ends well for them.

Gonna be a tough match to get anything from tbh, our away form is dreadful, they are on the crest so we just gotta get through it unscathed for me .

I however fear a 2-0 loss this time unless we get some rhythm going quickly. I will be watching at home behind the couch

I mean they've already invested hundreds of millions into the club, we've qualified twice for the CL and we've won a major trophy for the first time in my life so tbh even if the Saudis walked away tomorrow I'd still be incredibly happy they took us over in the first place.

Doesn't bare thinking about what state we'd be in if we'd still been rotting under Ashley and whoever had taken over from Bruce after we got relegated. THAT'S the alternate timeline, not winning league titles and being a super club etc.

If we were sold tomorrow (which clearly we won't be) then you'd imagine it would be for big money to a forward-thinking owner. Not picked up off the scrapheap for peanuts in a clearance sale as was our previous destiny.

Bang on!

We were nailed on to go down in 21-22 under those two morons!
