Questions how far away Rigg is from being Yamal's level and then ends his posts by saying Rigg will start the season on the bench for a side nailed on for relegation.

Nailed on? You forgetting they didn't lose to Burnley in 2 games

its not so unique

The football teams who famously sing "Wise Men Say" (a reference to the line "Can't Help Falling in Love") include Sunderland, Hull City, and Huddersfield Town. The song was adopted by these teams as a chant, with Sunderland and Hull City particularly known for their long-standing tradition of singing it.

The song was a popular anthem among football grounds from as early as the 1960s, including with supporters of Sunderland, Swindon Town, Hull City, Huddersfield Town, Preston North End, Swansea City, Airdrie United and Raith Rovers.

Don't forget their iconic pre-match usage of the 1996 top 40 hit "Ready to Go" by Republica which they named their forum after. I've heard they talk about that in America all the time too.

Trying to force an anthem like everything else. Like an end, nickname or regional iconography its an organic thing. They just dont have any of.

Ourselves, Liverpool, Man United, Arsenal, BIrmingham, Norwich, Coventry, Portsmouth, Leeds, Southampton, Man City, West Ham off the top of my head have famous long standing songs commonly associated to the clubs by media and other fans that have been perennially sung at most games for generations. Even we didn't know that's their tune.

Were they filming a new series this season? Feel like whenever they try to do something like that it backfires.

I remember when they had a 360 degree photo of the ground at a set moment in the game and it just so happened to be when the opposition scored.

Can remember Swansea fans singing it at SJP back in the 90’s from the Milburn Paddock.

Sang it much more in tune than the these daft cunts as well.

Edit just read that thread on groomers and it’s page 7 before anyone acknowledges one of the most famous, original and local songs linked with a British football club, funny that.

I’d never realised it in all honesty - never heard them sing it before.  They’re a weird bunch

I've heard them sing it, not so much a big in a ground thing but in pubs etc. Their old fanzine was called that because of that.

Not surprisingly they would also sing Rolf Harris's "Two little boys".

That’s right, it was - forgot about the fanzine!  Never heard them sing it, but it’s fair to say it must’ve been around a while for that.

Seems apt that their ‘anthem’ is something that only winos sing.

There are references to Newcastle literally all the way through it  barely a verse that doesn't reference exactly where it's about

Scotswood Road

Balmbra's

Collingwood Street

Blaydon

Armstrong's Factory

The Robin Adair

The Chain Bridge

Blaydon Mechanics' Hall

Yesterday, whilst amusing myself reading an article about Sunderland having 2 of the lowest points totals out of the worst 6 in Premier League history, I also learned that the two teams who have the joint record for most own goals scored in a top flight game are Sunderland 2003 and Sunderland 2014

A 3-1 home defeat against Charlton where the makems scored all 4 goals

And the 8-0 defeat at Southampton where they put 3 past their own keeper
