Well no surprise to say our red and white ‘cousins’ have had a much better start than most of us (and them no doubt) predicted. But as you can see below, with 11 points at end of September (other data aligned to points per game [ppg] for same number of games per month as this season) they are ahead of their best ever season, and way above both their average PL return and the PL average ppg for 18th place. They’ve a tough November and December so it’ll be interesting to see how things look at the half way point. Anything north of 22 pts and they’ll be absolutely fine.

They'll be absolutely fine this season. Watched them properly for the first time on Saturday and I was pretty impressed. They look very well organised, dangerous on the break and all play for each other. They're getting a lot of fortunate breaks as well which always helps! Wouldn't be surprised if they finished mid table. Certainly out of them and Forest if someone asked me to have a bet on which team will finish higher it would be them. They gambled in the summer and it looks to be paying off. If we were playing them this weekend I wouldn't exactly be confident I know that much!

Strange that in 6 games the only team to beat them was a fellow 24/25 Championship team.

Well fixtures have fallen well for them tbf; in that they have played the 19th, 18th, 17th, 16th, 13th and 3rd placed teams. But given we’ve only beaten the 20th placed team and we’re currently sitting 15th, I wouldn’t be exactly brimming with confidence either 😂

Not sure it's as simple as saying fixtures have fallen for us, the table after 6 games isn't really a concrete description of the ability of said teams.

Villa, Forest & Palace are all European sides, 5 points off them with 10 men for an hour is a great return.

The likes of Brentford and West Ham are games we ideally need to take maximum points from to stay up and we have beaten both, both them sides will still take points off other teams this season. I don't think there's any real whipping boys this year, maybe Burnley like, who we lost to. [emoji38]

If we can get something from Man United on Saturday it would be an amazing start, would take a point but no reason why we can't get all 3 with the state they are in.

Well you’ve already had an amazing start, and you’re right,  where teams are now doesn’t really predict where they are likely to end up/their quality.
Fact is though, after Saturday you will have played six of the bottom eight teams (just ourselves and Wolves missing from a clean sweep!). Tbf, in some cases their position is influenced by your result with them. October fixtures look ok (Man Utd as above) and you’ll tick off Wolves to make it 7 of the bottom eight in 9 games. So you will have played 7 teams who clearly aren’t ticking yet.
You’ve a really tough ten games through November and December before you reach the halfway point.
I haven’t watched your games or even highlights so am clueless to how you have played, but they are great results full stop; let alone for a newly promoted side. That said, I could see you only picking up 4 points from 30 from the Nov-Dec run. And no, you’re not having the three from us 😉

I feel like this has been largely overlooked in the pure copium huffing that's been going on the last few weeks like

Early days and there's a nightmare run coming up for them but it's been a great start for them, they've done exactly what they needed to do.

It's a good job football isn't played on paper :D

I watched an hour or so of their game on Saturday, first I've seen of them.

Granted that's not a lot but from what I did see it was awful, nothing like what you would expect from Premier League standard football. It looked like two ten handicappers playing in the Ryder Cup.

Forest were very leggy after their midweek exertions and Sunderland, well I'm not quite sure what to say but somehow they won and must be over the moon at their points tally to date.

As much as it pains to admit, they've had a cracking start and deserve to be where they are in the table, they're flying high on confidence and have shocked the league, there's no two ways about it.

But it will be interesting to see how they navigate the next two months and what happens when they lose some games on the bounce and their confidence is knocked. Early days yet, but they've had a great start.

They've had fairly gentle fixtures Palace aside but have maximised on them and fair play for that.

If they can get a good return when they actually play some of the better sides then it's time for them to get excited in earnest.
