I mean surely there was just no way with our record against the likes of Bournemouth, Brighton, Luton and the fact last season was the first where we didn't drop points to relegated teams in at least 45years and that the vast majority of derbies have been horrible forgettable games of football, there's no way this could possibly  happen.

I thought they would be better than they were, but thanks to our generosity they didn't have to be. The only hame I've seen much of them in this season was when they played Liverpool away and today they were poor in comparison to that.

 

They did what wins derbies though- strong in the tackle, first to every second ball, played on the ref's lack of experience to its fullest early doors and were full of energy throughout. Probably also helped that they didn't put the ball into their own net for no fucking reason whatsoever 🤦🏼‍♂️

 

After they scored we were never getting back into it- I don't think we tested or stretched their defence in the slightest and that's on us.

Sunderland offered absolutely nothing today. They were shite, but they were well up for it, way more than us, and fair play to them for that. 
 

The game was a terrible advert for the north east, they were just a lower grade of shite than us. It was a pig awful game with no quality whatsoever.

Sunderland are resolute. They aren't skilled or talented but they organised and physically equipped. We won the game for them today because we didn’t impose ourselves and they just didn't do owt stupid.
