It was raining, and time and a half at Nissan. Then you've got to factor in the north sea and racism, but the massive lads fans that banged the corrugated iron stands done them proud. FTM. Rod
They played as normal (got away with blue murder). The opposition yet again had 23 shots. They are good at this shit I admit but how have they not been beaten at home until tonight? Edited February 11 by Rod

Their games are usually tight affairs, they don’t concede too many, they don’t score too many, they play with organisation, intensity and stamina. They’re in 17th position for most goals scored and 4th position for fewest goals conceded. Only Arsenal, Villa and City have a meaner defence than them. If you’re new to the top flight and have players who are mentally and physically capable of grafting hard through 90 mins then being extremely tight at the back is a viable tactic to keep you up when you’re newly promoted. I wasn't aware that you admired the mackem performances Bobby. However, in my book, allowing the opposition 23 shots is hardly being " extremely tight at the back". Credit where it’s due to them, they’ve approached the league with a very specific game plan and it’s worked. How many goals did they concede last night from those 23 shots ? Despite popular opinion, shots that don’t score aren’t worth diddly when it comes to the league table. Tight at the back means not conceding goals. A key factor is that they’ve got a really good keeper. I’d rather have Gordon Banks facing 23 shots from Xisco, than Mike Hooper facing 23 shots from Pele. And therein lies one of the key problems with xG Woderic. xG is based on all players being "average". It doesn't take into account whether a player is a generational talent, or if they're utter dogshit. For xG purposes, one size Fitz Hall. Which is fundamentally flawed because football is played by humans, not robots.

Wolfcastle
There was 26,000 more fans at Birmingham (D3) v Carlisle (D4) in the Auto-Windscreens Final in 95 than the Champions League final that year. If a player is a generational talent, his goals output will be way higher than his xG thus proving he’s a generational talent.

We were talking about the xG performance for a team. Their overall xG as a group of 11 players on the field trying to create and score chances. We weren’t taking about the xG of an individual or individuals in that team. And what I was saying is that just looking at team xG doesn’t give any indication of the capability of the player who had the chance, or the keeper and defenders who were trying to stop that chance. They’re all classed as being average. You can’t come in here thinking you’re Prince Stat Nerd waving your plastic sword about trying to defend the honour of Princess xG when you haven’t done your homework. @Rod the dragon will destroy you.
