Rich
-- By Gameweek 6 (~16% of the season complete) 7 points this season vs. 3 points last season (+4) 7 goals for in both seasons (0) 6 goals against this season vs. 14 goals against last season (+8) +1 goal difference this season vs. -7 goal difference last season (+8) 11.39 xG For this season vs. 8.23 xG For last season (+3.16) 9.69 xG Against this season vs. 13.55 xG Against last season (+3.86) 1.70 xG Difference this season vs. -5.31 xG Difference last season (+6.39) 11th position this season vs. 17th position last season (+6) We're unsurprisingly better off in every metric bar goals scored, which only goes to confirm what we all knew anyway in relation to our attack not being vastly different while certain key players are out injured and us being shafted by some decisions. -- vs. Equivalent Opposition Last Season +2 points +2 goals for +5 goals against (meaning we've conceded 5 fewer) +7 goal difference +7.42 xG for +1.93 xG against (meaning we should've given up 1.93 fewer "goals") +9.35 xG difference With a bit more context, it's clear that we're better in every area despite the injuries mentioned above. Even with those players missing, we've been unlucky, but when they're back you'd imagine we become more productive and more clinical, which should see our results start to better match our underlying performance. And as a final bit, the teams we've played average out as being "9th" last season (20th, 9th, 1st, 10th, 2nd, 12th) so not far off "par" (10.5) in terms of the relative strength of the opponent. Happinesstan
Is there anyway of highlighting which comparisons are to Bruce, and which are to Howe? I know I can look them up, but it would be nice if it was all encompassed on this page. If it helps at all the games are: Bruce West Ham (h) Villa (a) Southampton (h) Man U (a) Leeds (h) Watford (a) Wolves (a) Spurs (h) Jones Palace (a) Chelsea (h) Brighton (a)

Kid Icarus
Souness was shite, but it's unbelievable how right he was in hindsight to have wanted Anelka and Boa Morte over Owen and Luque. Souness could identify a player and always seemed to want a player for a position or role we needed or the team needed and Owen was never that payer, he was a vanity signing by Shepherd and it was embarrassing the lengths we went to to ‘convince’ him to sign, the for the sky cameras meeting at some luxury gaff, Shearer offering him his number 9 shirt and the 16k or so fans attending his unveiling. A player that never wanted to be here. Souness’ problem was, well, he was just a shit manager. Anelka, Owen or whoever, he would have turned them into shit as he eventually did with not a bad team he had at his disposal when he was appointed and a team that he was given quality players the club signed for him to work with. I have it on good authority from the writer of several books on LFC that Liverpool, when they appointed Rafa, wanted to bring Owen back, engineered by his agents mostly and they asked Rafa would he like to sign him and he said yeah he’s a quality player, but he won’t be a first choice under me, he will be an impact sub and him and LFC told Owen that to his face. He couldn’t handle it and said that’s why he wanted to leave Real Madrid because they saw him as the same. He’s unliked at LFC by their fans, everyone thinks he’s a cunt because he is. He thought he was bigger than LFC and could just walk back into the first-team as some returning hero and he thought he was too good for us as well. He’s a narcissistic no personality banal anal cunt who has serial killer vibes about him or something. Fuck him, he’s a wore! He did some good things in a Newcastle shirt and was really unlucky Shearer got injured. Surely xisco and luque deserve a mention ahead of JDT although I did feel Luque was unlucky at times too Yes. Lots of managers ignore key areas for other areas, and that was a crazy turnover of players in such a short period of time. Boumsong was highly rated at the time, but there was something dodgy about that whole deal.

Didn't Robson & Carver go and scout him and agreed he wasn't good enough? 8 months or so later we stumped up 8m for him.
