He had his moments but was ultimately a disappointment imo. For players who never really cut it at all, maybe he could've unlocked Mitrovic's potential? He started okay but never really got a look in under Rafa then became a goal machine elsewhere. He was here for such a short time I had honestly forgotten how good he was that half of a season. Probably the best of his career looking at his stats, so fair enough. Mitrovic is a great shout. I'll change to him instead

Our set up now there’s definitely tight knit love across the board.

Enrique, Jonas, Sissoko, Ayoze, Carroll and Cabaye did flourish for us, and bar Jonas all got big moves away from us due to how well they played. So far I think Townsend is the best shout. Did Sissoko flourish for us?

About 100kg between the three of them. I thought about Wijnaldum but thought he perhaps fluorished enough anyway to escape the conversation.

See I think Howe only really cares about physicality in defence and midfield. It's what makes players like Cabaye or Coloccini non-starters. Isak, Gordon, and Murphy are all skin and bones but absolutely rapid. Someone like Ba wouldn't fit into that profile, but weirdly Cabella would. Guybrush
Santon or Gutiérrez could have been taken to a level above with Eddie. That left side should've been lethal.
gbandit
I think he’d have just done a Murphy on Gutierrez, he’d have maximised his strengths. Guti in a high press side would have been amazing to watch though. I don’t think he’d ever have had great goal scoring output though. Santon, he’d have been great under Howe. Haris Vuckic would have won the Ballon D’Or x5
Sibierski
Sissoko would be mine too. LCM role and being similar mould to Joelinton, or RCM and hitting first time crosses from right (interchanging with RW in similar ways to what we saw Willock/Joe do). We saw flashes of his quality, Yaya like when he ran with ball, but was so infrequent. Under Howe, you'd like to think he would've gone to the next level. Other one for me would be Mitrovic. One of the few blights on Rafa time was not being able to get him going.
Miggys First Goal
Had a dream last night we were battering Liverpool 6-2. Isak and Murphy basically running the show.

The College Dropout
Anyone willing to work hard would succeed under Howe. We forget Howe had Shelvey sitting in front of the defence making tackles and playing balls through the lines. I would have Shelvey as a relatively lazy and unathletic player but he was tops for those 6 months. Lots of great shouts - Lejeune. Perez would've been more consistent - Perez was weak but incredibly fit. Gini, Sissoko. As mentioned, a Cabella or someone would be great too. This is under Eddie and PIF though. Eddie under Ashley is an entirely different club. Knowing you could be part of something massive is a huge motivator for everyone. I don't think someone like Eddie even takes the Newcastle job under Ashley. I shudder to think what happens to Eddie's career without us too you know. Maybe he gets a Forest, Brighton or West Ham type job but not one of the top 8. We've been as great for him as he has been for us. This has been a once in a lifetime opportunity and he's seized it. No other club would've given him this chance. As bad as most English managers are, few got good opportunties.
Miggys First Goal
I always thought had Ashley gone for Howe, it would have shown some forward thinking on his part, and maybe, just maybe, he was actually thinking about progressing the club in a forward direction. But yeah, Eddie x PIF is a match made in heaven basically.
Kid Icarus
Jonas under Howe is more likely to have played in midfield, like he did at the end of 11/12 imo.

Anyone with ambition and sporting integrity didn't last with Ashley. This season is giving Howe even more power IMO. If we get CL as well pretty much everything he's done (and Staveley + Ashworth) is vindicated with a genuine opportunity to continue to invest in it. The strategy is the right one, we just need more players. Get me a Howe style foreign purple for big money (Isak, Tonali), a couple high ceiling youngsters (Minteh, Hall, Tino) , a solid PL player (Barnes), keep our best players and we have a great chance of doing big things next season. Over to the commercial team to increase revenues with another CL campaign and a trophy to shout about. This approach of being too big and strong for most other teams + quality is a winning one. If we can tinker the intensity properly it can take us to the top with a bit of luck.
54
How about if we flip the question, who do we think would be least suited to playing under Howe? And let's say that they have to have been atleast somewhat regulars, it's can't be someone like Kuqi.
