I agree, it’s extremely poor. Defies understanding how it’s as bad as it is

To be honest it's pretty clear evidence someone somewhere is underperforming at the club.

The budget there must be lacking but I’ve found that a lot of non-football things atm are just a bit shit?

Content is few and far between

Digital is sub par

Social media is fine but hasn’t really improved

The whole club just needs a boost

Think I posted this before but I was indirectly privy to the app process and the budget was a lot lower than anticipated compared to similarly-sized clubs. The site was quite late too but that's not unusual all in sports tech/tech. I was also told there'd be a fairly important expansion of staff this summer but it didn't seem to happen - the club still seem to outsource a lot.

They’re advertising now for two new IT Support Technicians. Suppose it’s a start

Yeah... [emoji38] The word at the time was more about hiring specialists in areas of product & function. I guess we've hired the Head of Ticketing role but I'd be surprised if that person is so operational that they're involved in the running & management of the tech itself. Same with retail, hospitality etc.

Things can obviously change so maybe something happened, but this wasn't that long ago.

I have a look every now and then at the club's LinkedIn page and there are a lot more "Head of" type positions filled now which is encouraging. Big build it and they will come energy, just wish it was being built a little quicker.

They recently advertised for digital content, social media, and IT staff.

It sounds like they will be bringing full time staff on board and know that they need to improve.

It should probably have been done 3 years ago though.

this does not scream "elite"

newcastleunited.com needs work

Get that Heuristic Analysis going @Jack27 O0. Looks like the CMS is stretching that image beneath the score, surprising that the links aren’t just text.

I’m going to just pretend I know what this means

Was thinking about the League Cup and this new European competition format. Two rounds of games in January and 2 rounds again if you need a playoff for the last 16. This could be huge for the league cup in terms of the bigger teams. There's certainly a chance of weakened teams being played.

Had a bit X crack earlier referencing Steve Carney and Alan Shoulder. Obvs the Blyth' FA Cup run that got them signed to us and I remembered a Blyth link with another ex-player, Peter Cartwright. Turns out he played for Shields before the Toon then Blyth after. Also ended up a Maths teacher up the road from me at Astley High :)

This match got mentioned on the Totally Football Show today. I'd heard about it but never seen. The thing is, Beardsley isn't even the worst keeper that day. I'm not sure I've seen such a set of shambolic keeping performances, including by the actual keeper. Then you've got an own goal too. What a state

Did we use 3 keepers that night? Chris Hedworth maybe? Don't recall Martin Thomas ever being that bad.
