Tick tock, I'd be tempted just to say fuck him now .

We should be quite happy to step back and wait (which is exactly what seems to be happening) nowhere near the interest Leicester thought there would be for him. Theyll have to buckle shortly as mentioned they need to rebuild completely for next season whereas he's just a small piece of the jigsaw for us

Leicester were probably expecting a bidding war and potentially they haven’t had an offer yet.

I think this is almost certainly true. In their minds, Leicester were expecting some kind of Sotheby's auction where us and Spurs keep outbidding each other. In the end, the opposite has happened.

It could be argued that any price from £20m to £60m would be "fair" based on the level of interest in him, a bidding war between 2 stupid chairmen could easily have pushed it towards that higher number and you could argue that isn't unfair given his obvious talent. At the other end of the scale, if there's no interest Leicester just must sell for whatever they can get or they're faced with keeping an unhappy player and losing him for 0 in a year anyway.

Neither us nor Levy were ever going to create that first scenario. They needed some kind of Man U v Chelsea war of stupidity but neither of them seem interested.

Man U walking away from the Mount deal could set a precedent of teams not caving to these ridiculous price tags on players with 1 year left.

Kind of hope we’ve spoken to Spurs and both teams stand their ground. Leicester will have to blink eventually, they aren’t negotiating from a position of strength, especially with us having got Tonali.

Everyone's got to deal with ffp and has a limit. Selling clubs don't hold the cards. Without it there probably would be a bidding war for Maddison.

That's gots its pro's and cons. Wonder if the Saudi league keeps going the way it is if ffp is revisited.

FFP means that the likes of Chelsea arent being reasonable quoting astronomical figures, especially when they themselves have to sell to buy. F em I say, it will only bite them in the ass as they won't be able to make the signings they want

Maddison deal was always one for last week in the window once Leicester were relegated.

They are asking too much for a player despite many people rating in little demand because of the expectation of fee and wages and the players demands regards to size of club.

ESL clubs also realising that FFP applies to them, might not be a bad thing in the longer term.

If the Saudi league keeps taking talent from here then eventually FFP may need scrapping/relaxing in order to keep the PL competitive. Who knows, maybe that's a part of the plan.

Damien Duff

Still winds me up an unreasonable amount how much Duff celebrated when he scored against us. Like he'd won the fucking world cup.

Wish they would hurry up and get him to end the worlds dullest transfer saga. Sick of hearing about the bastard now like.

He is a typical Spurs signing , very good player but not elite , they will finish 6th or 7th next season with a team full of Maddison level players .

He’s definitely elite. A team full of “Maddison level” players would probably win the league (or at least come close).

Good, really can't see where he fits in to our team.

Agree 100%

Also strangely excites me as we know we are getting someone we see as potentially better 🙂

Or in that time we moved beyond him being the best addition we could make, is a nice way of thinking about it.
