Been linked with Wirtz again in the Daily mail. We had scouts watching him again on Thursday.

Anyone know much about him ?

He's class. Just come back from a long term injury and still looks really sharp.

Always sceptical of players who come from the Bundesliga but he's really talented.

He's an attacking midfielder/false ten/second striker type. Can play wide right too. Recently though he's either played between the strikers in a 3-4-1-2 or up top.

Attacking mid largely

Would be a 80m+ purchase

Would he really fit into our current system then ?

We’d find a way. Similar to finding a way if we signed Maddison, I think they are similar ilk of player.

Cheaper alternative might be Dominic Szoboszlai who I think is fantastic

80m+ for a 19 year old seems a tad excessive, no?

Is he really THAT good a prospect?

Also is it not quite likely we were there to watch Diaby, anyway?

I think he’s incredible and has a long contract, would take a lot and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s close to 100m

Half of Europe are scouting him- Real, Bayern, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City etc etc. His contract isn’t up until 2026 I think, so will be mega money if he moves in the meantime. He’s also previously mentioned wanting to play for Barca when he leaves Leverkusen.

From the article:

“Even without Champions League football, Newcastle are going to be ambitious in their recruitment drive with players such as James Maddison, Moises Caicedo, Conor Gallagher, Ivan Toney, Kaoru Mitoma, Kavlin Phillips, Jarrod Bowen and Declan Rice being discussed, along with the likes of Scott McTominay, Harvey Barnes and Kieran Tierney.

There are also several players currently playing abroad who are attracting firm interest, with Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram, Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga, Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby and Napoli pair Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia admired.”

Who can we actually sell realistically that gets us any money - there’s nobody other than maybe Lascelles or Lewis who would get us a few million each

To be fair we do have a reported 25m coming in from Forest for Shelvey and Wood

I mean, I'm sure if we finish top four there'll be some significant alteration possible.

Man, could you imagine if the summer got here and we went out and brought in Kvaratskhelia, Diaby, Rice, Maddison and Alphonso Davies to beef up the first team.

Maybe added João Pedro and a couple of other young lads to give us a bit of depth.

I genuinely think we'd have issues with members of the forum wanking themselves to death before the new season even gets here.
