Now That's What I Call Transfer Rumours! 7

The quotes from that article so as few of us as possible have to visit the mail's site:

Quote

I’d love to keep the squad together this summer - if we can strengthen rather than weaken,’

‘Dan (Ashworth) has made the point to me about trading being an important part of our future. That does not necessarily mean selling your best players, but trading with FFP rules can be a good thing for your finances.'

‘The club will also be very keen to protect their assets and be ahead of the curve in terms of contract length and make sure we’re in a strong position, but also recognising players who have done well and rewarding them for their performances.’

‘Unfortunately, players don’t come cheap, especially good players. We are going to have to spend a certain amount of money. How much that is I don’t know. I still don’t know what my budget is at this moment in time, but there will have to be some expenditure.

‘It will have to be controlled. It will have to be under FFP restrictions. They are definitely impacting us and what we will be able to do. But I have a vision of what I want to do with the team and what I think we need. I can put my point across in my own way without being forceful.’

Will there be scope for a marquee signing?

‘Yes, there would be players we’d love to bring in that would be classified in that bracket, I’m sure,’

‘For me, it’s more about the role they can fulfil in the team, whether that’s viewed positively or as a marquee signing then great. I’m not in my mind thinking, “We have to have one of those players that ticks that box for the supporters”. As much as I’d love to do that, it’s about finding the right player in the right position who I think makes us better.

‘The Champions League makes us more attractive and desirable to players, to a point. But we have challenges ahead, it's not as easy as everyone thinks to navigate the transfer market.

There is always a bump in the road you've got to navigate yourself around, so it's not going to be a slam dunk. This will be our hardest window to date. In my mind, there is no doubt about that because the pool of players we have to select from is very small.’

Deli Ali appears he may need somewhere to go, would Howe sort him out, or am I being stupid , Trips may have an influence on him

Dele Alli is finished. Completely finished.

I’d take Toney over Kane tbh. I’d even consider a low ball offer and take him while he’s banned. Not that we could get Kane anyway.

Still feel we missed an opportunity with Pacqueta. Might have been to do with FFP, who knows. He’s a far bigger unit than he looks on TV, think he’s got a big season coming up.

Still think we’ll see a spend in region of £150m-£175m over 5 or 6 players, with the bulk of that on 3 or 4 biggies with a free or a couple of youngsters making up the rest

Yeah, I think this is what our summer will look like too.

I always take articles mentioning a certain budget with a pinch of salt as no one will know our budget, Eddie howe even said he didn't know it yet, yet Hope does! [emoji38]

I even take what Howe says about transfers with a pinch of salt. He gives nothing away and plays everything down.

Just from the top of my head what id like to see/similar. I don’t mind getting AG only and not some crazy expensive right sided player.

Arda Guler 15m

Szoboszlai 50m

Thuram 40m

Augusto 15m

Todibo/Lacroix 35m

Random RB cover/loan maybe

Agreed. He is really solid. Good friends with Bruno. I've watched the hammers a bit this season and he is absolutely class. I'd pay 50m for him no questions asked.

Truffert - £15m

A Disasi - £35m

K Thuram - £40m

D Szabozlai - £60m

J Maddison - £35m

N Williams - £40m

Probably overspent there but so be it - strap me in for the ride

This is the point I made the other day regarding the club selling ASM.

If ASM was bought for £20 million over 6 years then he has an account value of about £6.6 million.

Wilson would have an account value of about £5 million.

Almiron would have an account value of about £3.8 million.

Joelinton would have an account value of about £13.3 million.

Schar would have an account value of £0.

This isn’t saying we should sell our best players and the above is only a guide to their value after amortisation. However, if we want to manoeuvre in the transfer market then those who do not have a long term future at the club should be viewed as open to offers.

The issue we do have is unlike the sky top six we do not have a reserve of players that have been here for a long period of time with any sort of resale value.

I can actually see us switching to 4-2-3-1 for many matches next season. Would be really interesting to see 3 fluid players at RW, CAM, LW who can pop up anywhere.

I'd like a few of the following players. Obviously we wont be able to afford all of them in one window.

I'd like Szaboslai for the right price.
Maddison would be cool.
Le Fee.
Lavia.
Warde-Prowse.
Chukwueze.
Solid CB like Kim min Jae which seems unlikely..
Gift Orban
Backup GK

Im not big on Diaby he seems very ASM to me.

I'm against us breaking the bank on one player. I'd prefer if we spend 20-45m on each position of need. We can also utilize free transfers, its a really good season to go for that and we have a lot to offer to players on a free.

We have like 10 players to sell. Curious to see how much we can generate from these. I can see there being interest from the Championship and L1 but I can also see the fees being low and some players wanting to stay on their wages.

I agree re: Diaby - in attack he is awesome but his defensive contribution would totally expose the fullback and invite pressure off the ball - Raphinha on the other hand would be the dogs.

Some Ferran Torres rumours have come up, with claims he's been discussed due to his experience at Man City in the prem and his versatility, as he can play either side and up top.

Only just turned 23 years old too, which surprised me.

Think he'd be a really great pick up if true.

I would be down for him but the price will be the major factor there. He's perfect for us. Not at 70m with huge wages. I think there is better value for money on the continent.
