LFEE
I'm sure Motson was a good at one point, but he has lost his marbles over the past decade or so. He was excellent in the 1980's commentating on two of my favourite games Italy 3 Brazil 2 in 1982 WC and France 3 Portugal 2 in 1984 EC. As time went on I preferred Barry Davies. Guest firetotheworks
José's the best left back I've seen at Newcastle and although the way he left was a bit sour, he was absolutely right about the way that the club was and is run, even if us finishing 5th straight away momentarily made him look like he was talking shite. Cracking footballer and we'll all have some great memories of him. One on one in particular he was colossal, it was only really Sturridge when he was at Bolton who I ever saw truly outfox him. Foluwashola
I'll remember him purely for the sweet, sweet time he spent in nets on his return to SJP. Decent player for a couple of seasons but ultimately not fit to lace Bernard's boots.

Foluwashola
Technically, aye he might have been better, but in terms of where he'll rank in NUFC history it's not even close.

Foluwashola
Because he was in SBR's Champions League team you mean? That, and because he wasn't a mercenary creep. Loves the area too does wor Olivier.
Guest firetotheworks
Ah right, that'll be why he tried to force a move to West Ham then 3 clubs in 10 years vs 6 clubs in 9 years as well, hmm.

Still lives round here doesn't he? Anyway, I know which I'll remember more fondly. Good day for retirements mind with Sheepskin going. Hopefully they can bin off Ronnie Radford with him
Wullie
Olivier Bernard wasn't a mercenary? He acted like a twat to try and force a move twice, he even took the club to tribunal to try and sign for West Ham. http://origin-www.whufc.com/articles/20020701/olivier-bernard_2236884_1141391
Guest neesy111
Enrique was pretty ordinary from an attacking point of view, that's what edges it for me.

Still, fuck Enrique.
Guest firetotheworks
Enrique was pretty ordinary from an attacking point of view, that's what edges it for me. You reckon? Always thought his attacking play was very good. He had a cracking cross on him as well. It probably helps that Bernard and Beresford had Cole, Beardsley, Ginola, Ferdinand, and then Robert, Bellamy, and Shearer to work with rather than the likes of Carroll, Lovenkrands, and Best, like. Foluwashola
He wasn't great going forward Enrique like. Somewhere inbetween Dummett & Bernard. Did make up for it defensively like.

nufcjb
I still can't find any quality footage of that match where he went in goal. Not too sure about highlights too either. Loved that day, even the part where Carroll was booked for diving.

BlueStar
Football clubs will be banned from signing shirt sponsorship deals with betting companies under a Labour government, as the party pledges to tackle a “hidden epidemic” of addiction and protect children from early exposure to gambling. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2017/sep/06/ban-betting-firms-football-shirts-labour-gambling
thomas
So limit the exposure to just the pitchside hoardings plastered in adverts for them then? The disembodied head of Ray Winstone at halftime, urging me to put a bet in play nawh?
Guest
It makes sense like, same reason smoking and alcohol companies can't advertise. Honestly surprised its taken this long for it to have some serious motion behind it.
