LFEE
That lad roasting him was great. 11/10 I didn't have a clue what he'd done, but listening to that, he's actually done nowt that weird. People should get a life. The bigger scandal was the news he was secretly married with child was it not?
morla84
https://twitter.com/MoneyMikeAshley/status/1165504924714713088?s=19 too funny that account Not sure if I watched the same video as others, but he didn't deny it, went as far as saying he was having a wank while he was sending the messages. I think hes been set up and got caught up with someone pushing the conversation down that route deliberately to expose him. Doesnt seem like he minds the stick he got and it's part of the price of being famous and living your life out on social media these days unfortunately. It could have been seriously damaging to someone less mentally strong tho. Obviously not great if the rumours are true that he has a wife and kid, but otherwise it's up to him what he likes. nemtizz
Rob knows by justifying Bruce's appointment he's enabling Ashley, right? Such a weird outlook. We should have a Geordie-off and whoever comes out top Geordie should manage our club for the rest of eternity.

54
Bolton are to be kicked out of the EFL in the next day. And will begin liquidation if a buyer isn't found by 5pm tomorrow. What is it going to take for the FA, EFL and Premier League to do something about all these clubs at are going under?

Stifler
Do what though? Either manage your finances correctly or this is what happens. Unfair on other clubs if there are clubs living beyond their means How about implementing a proper fit and proper persons test? How about instead of postponing games which would gain clubs like Bolton and Bury income, they let them play those games? How about as part of FFP, if your club is showing sings of financial difficulty then an administrator by the league is ordered to take control of the football club until the club is a better situation? How about there is a better trickle down of money to other clubs? How about instead of just sitting on the sidelines when their members go to the wall, they actually do something to prevent it. Both the FA and EFL have stood and watched what has happened at Bolton and Bury and let it happen. The EFL have actively taken action that would hinder both clubs from being rescued. Stifler
Probably a bit late for Saturday, but would it be possible for a small group of us to get tickets to a Bury game (or Bolton if they somehow manage to get taken over) and go down and show our support for a club who nearly went under due to bad ownership? Get a few pictures/videos with flags, in old toon shirts etc?

How would that work though? On paper, Mike Ashley would have probably passed easily back in 2007.

If you look at it, the club is in nominally the same position that it was when arrived. 13th in the league in 2007. 13th in the league in 2019. Likely in a better financial position with the amount of funds clubs now receive for making up the numbers in the Premier League. The harm in his ownership has been the details of how he runs the club day to day, year on year. It is hard to account for that in any meaningful way with a test before someone owns the club. If the person has liquid funds to show and is relatively free of corruption/criminal offenses, nothing will stop them really.

Guest Howaythetoon
It’s a disgrace how so many clubs get punished whenever someone who the FA/Premier League/Football League passes as a fit and proper person goes on to be the exact opposite of that. Why should any football club be held responsible and accountable whenever an owner, manager or player does something in breach of any rules and regulations or the law itself, and when so, punished? It’s not the responsibility of a football club to make sure the owner will be a good owner, to not get into any debt, to not pay people’s wages on time, to not file financial accounts on time, to not pay tax, to not dive, to not spit on someone, to not racially abuse someone, to not engage in any illegal or wrongful activity as a listed business and as a member of the football league. That’s the responsibility of everyone at the football club who own, manage, play and work for it and when it comes to the owners themselves it’s the FA and Football League who are responsible and accountable for them because it’s they who get to choose who is fit and proper and its the people who make those decisions who should be punished and their institutions hit the hardest. Not our football club institutions who we own, no-one else. No-one chose Mike Ashley to buy Newcastle United, he chose us and the powers that be chose him fit and proper. It’s all wrong and the whole football set up from top to bottom needs to be totally scrapped and forced to start all over again and from scratch. BlackandWhite
Dale is basically the undertaker of the corporate world (think he’s sent 40 odd companies to the grave via liquidation) and yet the EFL let him take over an already struggling club for just a measly £1 and without giving him the normal fit and proper persons test because of bury’s circumstances. How embarrassing. If anything there should have been stricter tests given how the club was already on the edge. The efl absolutely should hang their heads in shame. They’ve sat back and let this ultra cunt hold a club with over 100 years of history to random so he can make a quick 6 figure sale and recover from some of the loses he must have made from his other dead companies. Utterly shameful and embarrassing. I hope dale and Ashely dine together and choke on their pies. Both are utter scum, selfish and heartless ‘businessmen’. Disco
Having community assets fail and close is what the country is all about these days.
