As long as he works hard and scores goals, I think his teammates will forgive him. As for selling him, I couldn't care if jizzerpool offer 160 million, it's the principle, the way they've went about it,it doesn't sit right with me so we simply can't sell to them. We'll still get a good chunk of cash next summer if clubs that are struggling financially now suddenly find money under the couch cushions and we get a bidding war. He'd still have 2 years on his contract and I think a season of 20+ goals is worth a  30-50 million loss (maybe not even that much if we get that elusive bidding war).

 

It looks like he's staying now anyway,as there isn't a replacement. We can replace Wilson but not Isak. 

 

So fuck off Liverpool. He'll stay, score against them and no doubt kiss the badge. I'll applaud but he's took it too far for any idolism to reamerge.

There’s not a world where I’d give him more money and a contract extension with a release clause. The release clause would be shared with multiple clubs within seconds and it wouldn’t be set at the price we want for him. Just let the dickhead face the reality that he’s got three years left and we’re still going to get a ridiculous fee for him in a year’s time then ask him whether we wants to play football and have people interested in him or whether he wants to be a pathetic little bitch that’s hated by his own fans and who everyone in football thinks has completely lost the plot

If we can afford it/have the PSR room then I think we need to. Isak has been a cunt on this occasion but not a good look on our part for future talents or even our best players now, where they'd have to look elsewhere if they want paid the best in the world salaries.

I disagree personally. The work we do with the rest of the squad is separate to this and if we remain successful we’ll keep attracting the best talent or being in for them. We already can’t pay the best salaries because of PSR. The idea of further damaging our financial position for a player who has done Eve turning possible to fuck us is just not an option in my mind. Maybe I’m too emotional about it but it just doesn’t make business sense to me either

It's probably a coping mechanism but I've got a feeling that this summer is peak value and just maybe he's been a little over hyped this season.

 

Yes Isak has all the tools to be one of the elite, but cold hard facts are that despite his undoubted talent he can go missing, lacks a bit of stamina, be a little inconsistent, gets niggly injuries and has now shown a sub optimal personality for a team sport.

 

Of course when he signs the new deal akd scores a few this goes out the window and he is the best player in the world. As I say, coping mechanism!

I think he has to go, he's burnt too many bridges and I think it might have an effect on the dressing room if he stays. As Howe has said many times before, we need to protect that at all costs.

Who do we get after Wissa? I'm really not sure I personally would take Jackson at a reasonable price.

The only justification for a new contract would be if you think that (1) it'll put him in such a better frame of mind that he decides he wants to stay after all and give 100% and (2) it won't infuriate the rest of the playing staff.

A release clause inserted into it would be likely demanded and also give the player the confidence that if a big club comes in next summer they can trigger it and he’s off.

My gut feeling, and I hope it isn't true, is that Isak will ultimately be remembered as one of the many "if he had stayed fit he could have been one of the best to ever do it" players.

Think we are getting a bit carried away with the Isak injury stuff. He missed 4 league games the season just gone and 8 the season before. Only 12 games out of 76. He played 42 games in all competitions last season and 40 the season before

This is quite pivotal and the cub can't appear to buckle. If we do, we may as well forget about ambitions of being a major player at the top end of football.
