We had the muscle to be in mix then during the KK period, fucking cocked it up with KD, further cocked it up with Ruud, and finally got it right with SBR. However the issue was the off the pitch shit then was miles off Liverpool, Man United and Arsenal. And then when we had another window post SBR era, we cocked it up with Souness and that was a wrap until Killer Mike Ashley came through.

But yeah, this is fucking bonkers to me. The way PSR/FFP etc has limited everything to the cartel clubs in England, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, etc would never happen in the US. There would be a full scale revolt from every other owner who wasn't get a fair shot of the pie. Shit owners can still be shit owners over here and their teams can be permanent bottom dwellers but if you get the momentum of a proper owner who puts the proper team in place to run the team and recruit correctly, sky is the limit.

Golden State as an example. They were hopeless before Lacob

Lacob pumped hundreds of millions into luxury tax to get Golden States success. The most of any team in last 10 years.

There was talk of him going for surgery this summer towards the end of last season. Obviously they decided it wasn’t needed in the end, but who knows.

That would be pretty unforgiveable if they made a bad judgement call on doing the surgery during the off season.

He might have come back and he's not recovered as well as expected. Also played a few internationals didn't he?

Pulled out of the Internationals due to an ongoing thigh/groin issue if I remember correctly

Feels like hoping for the best rather than a long term solution, but I'm no medic so I'm sure they know better.

Was thinking the same. Wasn't Botman in a similar situation? Or did he refuse the op himself before getting injured? I can't remember.

Thigh injury, long haul flight. Can’t see what can go wrong on this shite tour…

Leave him at home, for his own good.

On a serious note, rumoured Isak wants £300k/wk to extend. Loathe to post Talkshite or the crock that is Alex Crook, but that wage valuation is not unreasonable.

Question is, what do we do?

Isak is currently on £120,000pw. If we accepted, that's £9,300,000 additional yearly.

It is also thought Bruno has a highest learner clause. Bruno is currently on £160,000pw (+£40k bonuses). That means another £5,200,000m (+£2m bonuses).

Total increase of £14,500,000 per annum (+2m of bonuses). Current wage for both is £14,560,000 (excl. bonuses), so we'd effectively double our wage outlay for both.

Might explain why there's no mentions of even an extension, just vague platitudes of him liking being here, confident he'll stay, yadda yadda

Is it worth it? Can we even afford it?

There's been plenty of talk of a new contract for him.

Must've missed it. You don't happen to remember where/when that was put out? Tried looking.

Of course it’s worth it but he won’t sign a new long term deal without a realistic release clause.
