If only it was that easy. Sadly if he's got his heart set on a move - zero evidence of this of course - then it will be hard to lock him down.

In the footballing food chain, Liverpool are still miles higher than us and will be for a considerable amount of time.

I still think Liverpool had no plans to try for him this summer and still might not. Just trying to seize an opportunity/not miss out on Ekitike.

You see, here's another one. "Liverpool are miles higher than us". It's just not true.

On the pitch, no. I quite agree. I fancy us to give nearly anybody a game. On our day we’re nigh on unplayable and a match for anybody, as proved in March. There’ll be some huge clubs in Pot 1 of the CL draw that won’t want to come to St James’, that’s for sure.

But off the pitch - despite what many of us may think, they’re a complete different animal to us. They absolutely dwarf us in basically every category and we will likely be vulnerable to the likes of them for a while yet.

Who are they vulnerable to? You’d say Real Madrid and you could make an argument for Barcelona, finances aside. Aside from them which team in the world is tempting Liverpool to part with a star? It just won’t happen anytime soon.

It’s not a dig at Newcastle - or at least not intended to be - it’s just the way that it is and will be for a while yet. If it was like it was when Mansour bought Man City then it probably wouldn’t be like this right now.

I reckon secretly in the camp there will be a quiet confidence and Eddie will be targeting a title challenge. The players will know that some extra squad quality and iron out a few minor issues against 'mid table' teams we could be in the mix...

And the rest, that's just PSR and FFP making sure the game's fair all round and competition is at is most thrilling... :hmm:

Buying the best players from the non-cartel clubs never did the SPL any harm.

Selling Isak to Liverpool would be worse than when we sold Andy Cole to Man Utd for me. To see them skanky, bin-dipping, perpetual victim fucks take him from us would be sickening beyond belief. I don't see that selling him, even for a half decent profit would benefit us in the long-run, because the whole PSR bollocks is a complete stitch-up. A temporary, minor boost in funds for the current PSR window, while strengthening Liverpool, who in the meantime can spend much more than us, like the other top end clubs, due to established revenue which we'll struggle to get even a fraction closer to. Fuck right off.

You can never say never, but I would be fucking gobsmacked if the Saudis would allow the optic of being bullied into selling Isak happen.

Take PSR out the equation and John fucking Henry hasn’t got a pot to piss in compared to PIF.

Eddie and Yasir will tell these scouse cunts to do one and today’s antics won’t be forgotten. The scouse media are in full swing and I’ve got a feeling we’ll come out swinging.

I agree that this could make us more bullish actually

The only way we could be bullied is if the player agitates.
