You need to add context. His comments have come about because a) he was sent home and b) after a conversation with howe on his future.

mad ostrich behaviour to not acknowledge something is wrong

Where's he going to leave to then Gdm?, considering you seem 100% convinced he's leaving

“At this moment in time, I expect him to come” It’s about as damning a quote as you’re ever going to get out of Howe

Why cherry pick half a quote? The first half should read “Yeah, absolutely”.

That sounds pretty good to me 🤷‍♂️

The second half sounds like a usual caveat you’d get in any situation like this 🤷‍♂️

Really think this forum and the internet in general are glass half empty at all times like.

Hopefully we’re trying to put together a new, realistic, contract to offer him. Stick in as high as we can release clause (which I’m sure his agent will want in) as and see if he signs. We’ll soon know his intentions.

He’s earned a significant salary increase so let’s offer it up, stick a 150M release clause in from the season after next.

We need to have a happy player, we  absolutely also need to have quality back up for him. This needs put to bed asap.

There will be a reason Howe has made those comments, I reckon it’s to put pressure on people within NUFC to meet Isak’s contract demands. He’d never comment like that without a purpose

Another nothing answer. Personally I think Howe has dropped a massive bollock here and created an unnecessary situation.

Howe doesn’t tend to make such strong comments. He is the king at batting away questions. The only other time I can think is last summer around Paul Mitchell. Wonder if this is a get a fuckin move on to PIF in signings & Isak’s contract

He's possibly the best striker in the world and in his prime. If we want to keep him we need to pay him accordingly

A hundred times this. Give him the contract he deserves, how fucking hard can it be?

I’m one of the most glass half full people on the forum. It’s an incredibly important quote because it was totally unnecessary to say and Howe always picks his words carefully so he’s chosen those words for a reason

That’s fair but include Ornstein/romano saying he’s open to the move. Howe’s comments about his career being short (something they’ve obviously been discussing)

Of course Isak is/would be open to the move to Liverpool. As would almost every single player in the world would be. They're higher up in the food chain to us, they can pay more than us, they are likely to win more league titles than us and probably go further in the Champions League than us.

But that doesn't mean Isak is pushing for the move (yet). And by all accounts he isn't pushing for it. Howe said he's happy here and loves the players and the staff.

Howe said Isak wasn't ready for today's game. I believe him with that, maybe he needs a couple more training sessions before he's thrown into a match. So I've no worries if Isak was sent home after the Austria camp to clear his head and rest.

For me, it would have been very concerning if Isak and the squad travelled up to Glasgow from Newcastle and then decided to send him home. But is sounds very much like this conversation to send Isak home was done well in advance after a good week of training.

Sorry for my outbursts, it's all getting to be too much for my fragile mind to deal with. I'm going to avoid football forums until the window closes. I hope he stays but if he doesn't, so be it.

Take care of your minds folks.

Best news of the window so far.

It’s concerning to me that he got sent home at all for non footballing reasons but we’ll agree to disagree

Very true and this seems very out of character and they quotes just keep coming and coming there’s no chance he’s not doing it on purpose

Could be, but by telling Isak to go home, he has invited the questions straight away. He should have also told Joelington to go home and just say the 'managing minutes' line,  and that both players were sent back as they wouldn't be involved.

You read what I said.

And totally nonplussed by it. He was sent home for non-footballing reasons? Is possible transfer speculation not a footballing reason?

 Stop answering questions Eddie please.

He's done the footballing equivalent of that cheating couple at the Coldplay gig and put a spotlight on the whole affair, none of this conversation would be happening if he'd just said "he's got a bit of flu".

The worst thing about all of this is the Liverpool fans that will be on here reading this stuff.

They'll be absolutely giddy with this reaction, which will further feed their delusions and encourage even more relentless posting about how his head's gone.

Through gritted teeth but Liverpool have played a blinder here. They've not made a single bid for him but have unsettled him via Romano, got his head turned enough for Howe to admit it in public whilst simultaneously making us walk away from Ekitike. They know they're dealing with fucking schmucks and our off-field team have been completely out-manoeuvred and out-thought over the last week. We're green as grass and we've been utterly played
