We'll end up with Harvey Elliott and money

If it's Harvey Elliott and 100m+ then that would be one of the least awful scenarios.

Edit: And no daft fucking buy back clauses.

Liverpool already snapping up Ekitike and then going on to get Isak too would seriously send me over the edge. That’s not just a gut punch; it’s way worse than the worst-case scenario I thought was even possible a few weeks ago.

Honestly might be the end of me and this sport at the PL level tbh.

The thing that would piss me off the most if he went to Liverpool is that he would win loads and become another one of their "legends", fucking hate them  scummy city, scummy fans, robbing murdering basdards and I fucking hate the accent.

What are you referring to by “robbing murdering bastards”?

100% agree with everything here.

Man if we were more capable of transfers the thought of a £120-150m fee being reinvested would be slightly more exciting though [emoji38]

I really can't help but wonder if we've been so hesitant in the market because we may have been waiting to get a huge injection of money first, which would affect the choice of player we go for.

It's probably one of the worst imo [emoji38] A player who is not that good nor fits our system, plus less funds which clearly we so desperately need to maximise to have any slim chance of competing.

Apart from NUFC and gambling it has been for me since its inception.

Imagine Chelsea will be sniffing around

None of this is much fun, but I would at least like to be a fly on the wall at the next meeting between Delap and his agent if they signed Isak, on top of already signing Pedro, since signing him.

We're not allowed the high bracket players.

I'm not convinced by any of that tbh, certainly not taking a points hit, that would've totally knackered our season last year. We've traded reasonably well with what we've got to trade imo; the fees recouped for Kelly, Longstaff and even Miggy have been very good considering their status in our squad, and I was entirely in favour of the (relatively) huge Minteh sale.

It looks like there are commercial opportunities being passed-up for reasons I can't fathom, but nothing should take us away from the fact that there's a set of rules in place that are incredibly effective at benefiting the interests of cartel clubs. I find it a shame that people go straight in on the club when there's this blatant unfairness having the greatest impact of all.

It's taken me 4 years to point my finger at the club on this so I don't really agree with your take on going straight for them.

Both things can be true at the same time. The set of rules are in place to hold us and others back, while we've also done nothing to work around them. All of the things we've done are about working firmly within the rules and meeting them square on, and even then they've been limited - not enough player trading, sponsorships, or legal challenges.

Take for example a points hit - for your argument that taking a points hit would have ruined last season, the counter to that is the reason you get a points hit in the first place. Eg 'over' spending on players can negate that and/or you take the hit but the squad is now a title challenging one (for example) after the punishment is dealt with.

That would be even worse, fuck taking Liverpool’s duds. If they want him pay 150m up front. If Isak lacks motivation he can train on his own for the next three years. PIF need to grow some balls. I’ll never be done with the club but I’ll be done with these owners if they don’t grip this now.

They can afford it like just push next year's spending forward to get it done. I mean he might not be available next year.

Liverpool Football Club might have 'PSR room', but I just think it would be wildly out of character for Fenway Sports Group to sanction another 200m+ total outlay to get this done right now.

Howe would resign if that's the outcome.

If he wants to leave it gets done for 130.

Would be if it wasn't so obviously against what the club wanted.

I think they (the club management) wouldn't have been against selling a Gordon on and using that extra  cash but not Isak.

I get that and I'm not denying that but the club are aware that's the situation

And they need to come up with a solution, whether that is to pivot to a different set of targets, go back to the signings we made post takeover, which granted are riskier but give me a riskier signing than no signing

I don't agree about the PSR situation, but aside from that the club have handled the leadership situation poorly. Eales should have been relieved of duty  months ago so we would be ready for this window. To have Mitchell swan off just when the window opened was really poor.

The Liverpool link died the moment they signed Ekitike.

He'll stay this season.

This. Is was also stated in the Athletic article that they turned there interest in Ekitike. I dunno what PSG might do.
