To be fair, if we’re only offering him £200k per week then what do people expect to happen? He’s obviously going to want a move to somewhere he can get paid 50%+ more. 
 

On the flip side, I don’t think it’s the wrong move for us to control our wage bill. Now is the point though where we need to become Palace/Brighton/Brentford style difficult negotiators. He is for sale for £150m and until we get that fee he is staying.

If he’d been shite for us there’d have been folks wanting him to take a pay cut to go.  It cuts both ways.  Anyone who thinks that any player who signs for a club has genuine deep-felt emotion for the club needs a good shake.  They’re all ‘mercenary’ to a degree - as would any of us be.

He won't be the first big name player to leave us - he's done his bit. Got to make sure we get a really good fee, given that he's got 3 years left on his current deal. Then need to invest in a quality replacement+a back up to that player.

 

It's disappointing, but that's football I guess. Eddie done the right thing in leaving him behind.

Disappointed in Isak. However, the club is bigger than any one person and certainly bigger than him. I'd be more gutted if Howe left. We can't be offering £300k/pw without it impacting the rest of the squad so if he's not going to accept our best offer he should move on. We could keep him another year and still get a good fee but the last thing we want is him messing up the dressing room and sulking. I'd of hoped, especially now Liverpool have Ekitike, he would have got his head down and played this season whilst assessing options, especially since we are in the Champions League.

 

Sincerely hope he doesn't go to Liverpool. Would be great if PIF could get a Saudi club to throw in a high offer in the region of £180m and then we can say, there's your way out - either go or if you want Liverpool then they have to match it.

 

If he goes for what he should, there is a great opportunity to improve the whole squad and not be as reliant on one player. Huge opportunity despite the disappointment.

It never looks good when our best player wants to quit the club, which is on the upward trajectory. The worst thing we can do is sell him, and not be able to reinvest. We are already seeing the Newcastle tax applied to us for almost every transfer. Imagine when everyone will know we have 120m burning in our pockets. What a shame this Isak move is.

Don’t begrudge him leaving and wanting a salary befitting of his ability and to challenge for the top honours.
 

But the way he has gone about it, however, is shit. He can get to fuck with that carry on IMO. Effectively downed tools and gone on strike to try and force a move.
 

I did also think he’d stay for this season at least. Possibly on a new deal and with a realistic release clause. Then move on next summer. 
 

If all of this is true, of course. Which certainly doesn’t seem beyond the realms of possibility!

Brighton got 115m out of Chelsea for Caicedo at no point was as good as Isak for us and got the to trophies or CL places like Isak helped us. surely this has to reflect in any sell price so 120m is laughable...
