Been sick of the PL's bullshit for years now. Now I've seen us win something I feel like there's nowt left to conquer. Realistically the PL is out of reach until the rules change, maybe the FA Cup, but that's nowhere near what it was considered 20-30 years ago. Just not sure what the point is in watching something that's designed specifically to help the same 2 or 3 teams get stronger year on year. I have tickets to the Sela Cup with my old man, coming over from NI for it. I’d really rather not go, at this point, but I imagine he’ll want to. GWN
Ii thought all this shit was finished with, seemingly we are never going to be elite. We won a trophy so i will die happy, once Isak moves on and a new striker is in we will all forget it and get behind the lads, however we wont ever forget. Gola
I would love to give up football, but I just can't. So many friends are build around football, my social life and the fabric of my weekends. I would have so much more time and probably be a better person without it, but I just can't let go of it. I'm here for life.

I'm here for life. I play 2-4 times a week, joined an XIs team where I live. The more I play myself, the easier it is to mentally switch off from Newcastle. You still get to enjoy the game, but from a totally different perspective. Bizarrely, I couldn’t switch off even during the darkest depths of Ashley. I think I could more easily now. My view of the wider game (PSR, PL etc.) is wildly different.

Given my position on the whole thing (i.e. this is on the system, not the club), I'm hoping that my reaction to his inevitable departure is to feel properly fired-up. We've already made great strides against the odds and that has felt fantastic; we can frame this as just another barrier that Eddie and the lads can leap over. However, it hinges on us being really proactive in trying to fill the hole he's going to leave. If we don't make some big signings before September it's gonna be hard to shake that Ashley-like feeling of hopeless, "What's the point?'-ness.
