But out of all of these new school, podcast, social media ‘pundits’. He is the worst by miles. Agree, but as unpalatable as it is, he’s right on this one. Although I'd personally prefer us to cut off our own nose to spite Liverpool. Id rather our owners didn't help Liverpool raise the funds for the deal though. I think we should sell Isak, there's no way back, but he won't be getting any shit from me if/when he returns to SJP as an opposition player. There are plenty of ways back. This isn't even in the ballpark of toxicity that Ronaldo to Madrid (the first attempt) or Suarez to Arsenal reached. Kane tried to leave Spurs multiple times before it finally happened. Heck even Ashley showed backbone in how he dealt with Carroll to extract every single cent.

That's true, but when part of the motivation is financial, and we're hamstrung, I can't see how thats fixed. I could be wrong. Let's see.

NUFC91
Yes if he went to Saudi I'd get the heat but sadly when Liverpool come knocking players will always want to be off. The reality is Pedro, Mbeumo, Ekitike, Trafford all preferred moves to other clubs over us, it's just the reality of where we are... Always make you wonder are we better off exploring outside of the prem?
Barnes23
Not going to watch the video but the optics of selling Isak to Liverpool are terrible and I don't see how that is really arguable on any level. Would be preferable to sell abroad next summer for a lower fee.

Liverpool fans are gloating because they are about to sign arguably the best striker in the world right now. Nothing whatsoever to do about NUFC being a threat. We really have totally fucked this up. The fact that we aren’t in contract negotiations with him speaks volumes and we are just waiting for the dippers to get their funds in order. I bet he goes for about £130m with a remaining £15m being in add ons. The scouse must be laughing their balls off. He's not just talking about Liverpool fans. But sadly we never sign these players.

Hanging on to players who want to leave won't make a difference. For my part im just enjoying what we are doing with what we got. It's going better than it has for a couple of decades. Liverpool can't force us to sell, it's as simple as that. If they want Isak they will have to pay a figure which would suit us not them. He's still got 3 years left on his contract, and I don't see us backing down to the red wankers.
TRon
Selling Isak will not be a disaster if we play it right. The last thing we want to do is sell to one of our rivals, but if they pay a massive premium and we maximise his fee, we can use that money to buy 2-3 top class players to replace him. If we play this right, there's no way we come out losers, I don't care what the social media narrative is. We hold the whip hand here, not Liverpool or Isak. Fuck you on about? I agree, they cant force us to sell. Which is why we shouldn't be selling at all, unless its something truly incredible. And £150m isnt incredible, its simply his true value. £200m would be in the "incredible" realm. We are obviously fishing for Sesko whilst knowing that the dippers are now busy getting shot of Diaz and Nunez so that they can get their bid. And I bet its not £150m up front. The only scenario I can see now where Isak stays is if we only have Wissa as our striker.

HaydnNUFC
No idea if this is possible; but he’s away, if not this summer then in either of the next 2 windows. So we’re guaranteed a hefty fee. Could we not keep Isak this summer but still buy Wissa, Sesko, the CB we need etc and then flog Isak abroad in the next two windows if only Liverpool seem to be in interested and have the potential to afford him? Let Isak rot in the reserves for all I care in mean time. He’s burned his bridges and can get to fuck. But we absolutely cannot sell him to Liverpool or any other PL club. The message it’d send would be absolutely appalling. Edited July 26, 2025 by HaydnNUFC
