Isak is elite, that can’t be argued, not the best striker in the world as many seem to say he is but also not far off and absolutely in the top group of strikers and with the obvious potential to be the best.

That being said, for parts of the last season he wasn’t great or even good at times and the whole time he has been here I have never been convinced he is totally connected with the club, doesnt seem to have gotten under his skin like it does to some and he seems quite cold and like its just his job so not overly shocked he wants to leave.

The way he has gone about it leaves a bad taste and it’s deeply frustrating the way some mistreat our historic, iconic and unique club and see it as some sort of stepping stone.

The invention of ffp has made the game i love a farce, it’s tiresome and rigged for the biggest clubs to get bigger and keep the rest at arms length, this era of football truly stinks. And just to add to this, people like Romano are absolute parasites.

Anyway, Isak, get rid but get rid at the maximum price, don’t be treated like a doormat by Liverpool or anyone else, 150 minimum, with a huge upfront payment, not installments across the next ampint of years, they want him so bad make them pay and then we must reinvest the money well to take us another level higher, which is easier said than done.

This is a big part of what makes him the player he is.

I want him snapped to pieces if he leaves however we’re largely to blame.

I know we've been shite at securing targets this summer but at least with Wissa we've went to a Brentford and put in multiple offers.

I'd hate if we operated like how Liverpool have carried on.

This is completely true btw. He is an elite goalscorer, but we spent chunks of last season looking like we were playing with 10 men.

I am in the minority in feeling like he is absolutely replaceable with the kind of money being discussed- it's just a shame we can't have confidence in our recruitment team to get the job done.

The stance has always been, “he’s not available at any price” because it would be disastrous. So I don’t know why Liverpool think our line of thinking has changed.

We’ve heard they’ll only bid if they’re are encouraged. It seems like all of this bollocks going through Romano, Hope and the rest is to put pressure on the club, to make it seem like Isak is getting agitated with our position and to make us break.

Pool know our position which is “no way, no how, not any time, not any place”. The way they have gone about it is disgraceful, but they know it’s their only game plan.

Liverpool may have possibly fucked up by hijacking our Ekitike move. Had we got him through the door, then selling Isak would have been far more feasible.

I just don't see how we can sell Isak before getting replacements in (which is proving near impossible considering our track record this window)

TBH like I would even back Howe dropping Isak for a few games if all of this media shite turns out to be orchestrated by him/his agent.

Would be a massive statement from Howe. I don't think he would because it would draw too much negative attention and probably further deteriorate relationships but would be a massive "you don't fuck this club around - you or anyone".

He'd go up in my estimations even further (as if that's even possible!).

I'm of this line of thinking as well. I think this has all been orchestrated with Isak's agent, liverpool, and their contacts in the media.

We said not for sale, Liverpool got wind that Isak is open to the move, and they devised a plan to go full press in the media, Alex to sit out a pre-season tour with an injury, and see if we crack from the pressure. Hopefully we ride this out and carry on as usual. Notice nothing from Isaks camp about not playing for Newcastle again, or threatening a strike like we saw from Wissa at Brentford. Think they know if this fails he'll have to return with his tail between his legs. They porbably thought the injury story would protect his rep while they try this tactic, but it looks like its backfired.

Even if he ends up staying he won’t be match fit for the first month (at least). I don’t see him playing a single game during preseason.

It's almost as if we're in a position of strength, but according to the dog blower, it's inevitable.

This is what really fucks me off with this whole narrative that fucking fringe keeps spinning. "Only wants Liverpool" does he fuck. If Barca suddenly came in, or Real, you'd bet your ass he'd be more interested. And the whole rush of having to sell him now, like he's gonna go for free next year or something. Get to fuck

Just sit him and his agent down and explain we just want one more season. Enough time to find a replacement and we'll let him go to any non-PL club who puts down a reasonable amount next summer.

I don't think a verbal agreement is good enough, they'd need it in the contract. I actually don't think they'd accept anything over £100m either.

Anything under 150 million and we’re fucking mugs. These cunts we’re one of the main players lobbying against our takeover to rub salt in.

They should be quoted 200 million and if they won’t pay it, well Isak and his agent have badly miscalculated.

We sign Sesko regardless and let Isak play 2nd fiddle next season.

This would probably be the sensible approach but it wouldn't surprise me all that much if we just feel like we've been treat like cunts and the club think we won't negotiate with you - you will simply play to the best of your ability until we see fit. Which actually - I think they'd be right on.

Don't think you could really replace him like for like, but certainly 'in the aggregate' if you ended up with two strikers and more creative quality in midfield which is absolutely achievable with an 150+ sale. We just do not have the capability, time or options on the market to do so.

Worrying that our acting sporting director feels this way.

Unfortunately the only reason he hasn't immersed himself into the club is ££££

You wouldn't see Haaland or Salah (especially after the recent pay rise) restless for a move given the money they're on

Fucking hope we refuse to sell / sell for above £150m

Not least for the reasons everyone has said, but the marker for him will be HUGE next summer

Liverpool, Bayern, PSG, Barca, Madrid (could they sell Vini, play Mbappe LW etc...) hell even Chelsea could try and land him

Could see us still getting £120m easily next year

Hoping we keep him for another season, and get 1 or both of Sesko/Wissa.

It's all about spite now, Newcastle should loan him out (and pay %99.9 of his wages) to a small Scottish team like Dunfermline Athletic FC.

Just for laughs.

I bet things will be sorted by Friday, whether Isak's staying or going. I doubt Liverpool will offer 140/50. They'll probably stick with the 120/30 they were planning. If he's off, that's probably what the club will have to take, I reckon. It'll be interesting to see how we play this.

I bet our star players and their agents are watching what's going on. A bad precedent this

If we took a bid of 130 and we're taking a huge L here. Liverpool getting Ekitike ahead of us then Isak? Their fans will be going nuts about how we crumbled before the almighty Liverpool. They'll be so annoying, insufferable and cocky. 😒😒

Wish Yasir could pull of a Greek on Liverpool, like Forest did to spurs over MGW.

The other side of that is if we don't sell Isak to Liverpool, then sign Sesko or Wissa, that leaves them with an unproven stringbean striker in Ekitike, while we will have two powerhouse strikers on our books.

We don't have to take any L, we hold the whip hand here. We can just refuse to sell Isak and that's the end of it.

I think a lot depends on the attitude of the squad. If the general feeling is that they understand why he/his team have done what they've done, that's professional football etc. and as long as he's going to knuckle down once the window shuts then I think we'll be doing the right thing not budging on our "not for sale" stance.

But if the consensus is that he's acted like a wanker who has let his teammates down then maybe it's better for the club as a whole to let him go.

In truth, Liverpool aren't a rival. With the rules as they are we aren't competing for titles any time soon so our battle is with Villa, Arsenal, Man Utd not Liverpool and Man City.

An extra £90-100m or whatever we have after Sociedad get their cut could leave us with a stronger squad overall - GK, CB, CM, Wissa, Sesko. The problem, and I wasn't expecting this going into the summer, is that I've completely lost faith in both our transfer strategy and our ability to get deals done.
