He's gone in my books. Physically and mentally, he is never a Newcastle player anymore. Thanks for the goals, especially in the cup final, but he has to go and the club needs to move on.

The best way is by gettinga quality striker in or we are absolutely fucked.

In reality, in terms of leadership we are weak.

In maybe not reality, we all still have PTSD from the Ashley era.

In a way, but it's more a lack of expertise or decisiveness on the incoming transfers I think. That doesn't mean we're going to give Andy Howe the authority to accept a lowball bid from Liverpool for our best player. This decision will come from the very top.

I would drag this out. Uncomfortable for all, but we need replacements and the club comes first. If Liverpool really want him, then they'll eventually cough up £150m.

Can't help but think Isak and his agent have overplayed their hand by going this maximalist.

It will drag out in any event, because we need 2 signings before he can go.

Adding him on to the squad they already have guarantees they will be close to winning the champions league and premier league ever year for the next few years atleast.

PSG would have a lot to say about that. They're a better team with a better manager, even if Liverpool had Isak.

This is just like the Andy Carroll thread from back in the day. Nowt new under the sun.

Can live with the same outcome. Isak going for his absolute maximum value then falling apart and his career dying before being shipped to West Ham

...and this quality striker is??????

He stays, end of story. We may not like it, he may not like it but selling him to a manky club just down the road would be horrendous.

Have to imagine Richard Hughes and Eddie will no longer be friends after this.

Dunno about that. They understand what business they’re in and that they’re competitors.

For what it’s worth if he was not for sale under any circumstances the club would have come out and said that directly. This suggests that there is a price at which we will sell. If it’s £150m and a replacement, I hope we stick to our guns.

They beat Liverpool on penalties last year (Nunez missed the pen) and that's before they added wirtz, kerkez, frimpong, Ekitike and potentially Isak.

Sure there's a chance in reality it takes time to click. But on paper it's a monster first 11 and they should be expecting to be winning the league and running psg and whoever super close for CL. Anyone should if they are splashing £400m+ on a squad that was already as good as it is.

We simply won't get a true replacement.. It seems like all our suitable targets has already gone to the sky six teams, and Sesko will go there aswell.

There's no conversation to be had here, we need 2 strikers in before we can even consider listening to offers, I don't care about Isaks feelings, he is contracted to us, he only stands to devalue himself and lose out on a WC place if he kicks off and downs tools.

At the end of the day the club comes first and we don't have the personnel in situ to lose him, simple

It's really an issue that goes beyond the player at this point tbh.

This is a matter of the club asserting itself at the top table, and making sure we're not taken for mugs. The way we've been completed mugged off by these cunts so far is fucking outrageous.

Would be simpler if it was just the player kicking off

There is business, and there is the way they have conducted business here.

Guess we need to get Wissa over the line then to bring this episode to an end? Christ, I pray Gordon and Osula have been working hard on their finishing if they're to be our back ups to Wissa.

Signing a current England striker who has scored 44 goals (27, 17) in last two seasons, at the grand old age of 29 (Beardsley was 32 when he joined us for his second spell; Ferdinand was 29). Might as well give-up? really?

Sorry, but it’s completely useless comparing Beardsley and Ferdinand to today’s market.

I think we need someone as well as Wissa before we can sell Isak. Wissa alone isn't enough.

Our owners don't really give a fuck. They seem to care more about sustaining Chelsea these days.

Going to need one more, but we atleast aren't going to be desperate if we already have Wissa.
