147 I think?

That was such a mental fee for Coutinho. Barcelona were absolutely bonkers with some of the fees they were paying out at the time. Doesn't surprise me financial mess they eventually found themselves in.

It doesn’t really matter what the fee is if we can’t replace him this window. It’ll be another Carroll situation.

If we do sell him in this window I want to see some fucking intent from this board though. There has to be some positives in terms of player arrivals on the back of it.

Callum Best seems like Ronaldo compared to this scenario.

They got £220 million for Neymar, a release clause that nobody every expected to be triggered, then immediately spent it all on two players in Dembele and Coutinho. You've kinda got to look at this transfers as a collective rather than in isolation.

Surely refusing to train with the team whilst being under contract and clearly being able to constitutes a breach of contract too?

For now, the club seems to be going along with the “minor thigh injury” story, in hopes there would be a way back. But, yeah, before very long, unless a deal’s done first, Isak is going to have to choose whether to do a strategic breach or fall in line.

The biggest intent would be to tell Isak he's staying, buy another top striker and tell the squad we are going for the title.

Not going to discuss anymore as it’s pointless as it’s a subject that divides opinion passionately, some want him to stay because of what he has done and will never change their opinion and some hate what he has done and won’t change their opinion either, it is what it is now.

So never really backfired then

I think he will go and there will be a lot of disappointment on the fee. Imagine it will get done at £135m ish, rising to £150m with add ons.

More concerned about who we will then bring in

Coutinho was an overpay, but he was legitimately world class for the prior 18 months.

Dortmund should've been charged with some sort of crime for the price they managed to get for Dembele

150m or nowt

If they can't afford him, why buy Ekitike? There was our replacement.

They can't be allowed to buy our replacement and then take Isak for under our valuation. Newcastle have to dig in even if it means having an unsettled player for a while.

Exactly this. If you wanted and can’t meet our evaluation they shouldn’t have bought Ekitike

Rather see him rot on the bench than let Liverpool get a good deal.

£135m + 10-15m addons minimum.

Wirtz fee + an appropriate PL premium. Say 30% given how shit the last Deutsche wunderkinds Werner and Havertz have been since making the move over.

If this was happening next summer I’d agree with you. But the current circumstances and the way this has played out means he shoudn’t be allowed to go, no matter what.

The club has to be completely dispassionate and financial in this. Yes, it's annoying what's happened as fan - but if Liverpool come with £150m, you have to take it. Holding on to him is not risk-free. Two obvious scenarios:

Scenario 1 - his performance drops off this year and he has a few more groin niggles. Suddenly he's coming off a 13 goal season having played only 30 Prem games, and he's gone from being the world's elite striking purchase to 'only' a very promising striker coming off a meh season. Price probably then becomes stuck in the £100m-£120m range.

Scenario 2 - he does his ACL next March and you can't sell him next summer. You then have to sell in Jan 2027 or summer 2027, with 18 or 12 months on his contract which will mean the fee is well under £100m.

Maybe we do hang on to him for a year and get £150m next summer. But it's not the risk-free choice here.
