Kanj
Maybe Mrs Howe texted Mrs Hughes and gave her an earful and made her husband stop this bullshit. Edited August 1, 2025 by Kanj

Displayname
Eddie can say that it was his decision to leave Isak out of the team during the speculation. Isak can come out with a public apology for having his head turned. Think that will mostly sort it out.

Strengthen our resolve not to sell and, even better, not to do Liverpool any favours whatsoever. Buy a good second striker, strengthen everywhere else quickly, tell Isak to get in shape and get his mind sorted (and no promises of a sale next season either, cos of his fuckery). Play whoever shows the most commitment and desire, make him fight for his place. Rooney, Suarez and Kane all had stellar seasons (Rooney for seven more) for their clubs after they tried this tactic and failed. Just show some spine and demonstrate that we are not to be fucked with. Absolutely. As shite as we’ve been on signings, laying down the law to our biggest asset is something we have the people to do. I was injured, just needed to see the personal trainer, nobody from the club publicly criticized me, etc. everyone will know that’s not the full story but there is at least some room for him to come back in now if the 2 sides are truly far apart in their evaluation At least he was smart enough not to make his desire to leave too toxic. He said he wanted to explore other options and had a thigh strain. Could have been a lot harder to come back if he'd outright said he wanted to move to Liverpool. If they offered 150m by that time I think we would accept it and Isak is already their player They have set a limit around 120m, which is understandable in the sense that this deal must be a bargain that they can do it without hesitation. Anything above 120m actually impose a lot of risk to them.
Marquee Moon
Really hope we hold strong, seems like the only sane response from the club at this point. Give the new sporting director a year to formulate a proper plan & put the feelers out to Madrid, Barca, PSG & Bayern about a move next summer, fuck Liverpool. This isn't the first time and won't be the last. We're dealing with the best players in the world who want the most money, most success and against the richest and biggest clubs. Players will have their heads turned, we have to do our best to hold our ground and convince them to stay.

It's been obvious from the start and it's funny because they have spunked loads on lesser players already.

But maybe they just didn’t want us to buy him, god knows.

ChrisMcQuillan
I doubt this is anywhere near over, and I suspect they'll keep bidding. Feels like an attempt to get Isak to escalate things. I can't imagine what our rejection would have had to have been to scare them off for the entire window. Presumably something that would get Amnesty International out again.
