AyeDubbleYoo
He has to come back, he'll be there. No other option, especially with the noises the club have been making about reintegration etc. I don't think he'd go as far as to go completely AWOL when the rest of the squad are back. I'd be surprised anyway.
nufc123
If he doesnt show up we should stop paying his salary. Hes under contract ffs.
Adam P
If he doesn’t show up or refuses to play then we could legally sue him for the total money left on his contract. He can’t just down tools, it’s not a legal possibility. We could sue him for about 20m+ if he did. (3 years x salary).
TRon
Just read the actual statements put out on his behalf. All he's said is he'd like to explore other options. Of course he'll come back and train. He's not daft enough to burn his bridges, Liverpool might not even come up with the money for all he knows.

Keegans Export
It's a nightmare situation for any club/manager but if anyone can handle it, it's Eddie Howe.

gdm
So Eddie pretty much admits his injury is bollocks and he refused to go on tour. Edited August 3, 2025 by gdm
Dr.Spaceman
Quote Before that, he ruled himself out of the squad’s Far East tour when he walked out of training citing a thigh injury. A subsequent scan showed no damage. I mean how do you come back from carrying on like this? Bit like Peter Odemwingie or Saudi Berahino continuing to play for their clubs after what they did. HawK
Standing in front of the entire squad and staff and apologising would be a start.

Dr.Spaceman
Hey Chatgpt, show me a clip of Alexander Isak doing the walk of shame, Game of Thrones style but all the people shouting are NUFC staff.

gdm
On 01/08/2025 at 17:46, Adam P said: its not a fair reading, it’s completely made up. It is offensive to Eddie as it directly says ‘you are not in control’. Have a think about the legal implications for him of not honoring his work contract. There are very specific clauses in elite contracts to ensure there is significant liability on the party who breaks the contract. The implications of a player ‘downing tools to force a move’ are set out to ensure that the player does not have this option. If they did, then every player would use it as the only downside to them is reputation which can be managed and doesn’t impact their incomes. isak didn’t down tools, Eddie decided the best place for him was training by himself away from Newcastle. seems it was a fair reading of it after all then eh ? Benwell Lad
Smart stuff from Howe, as normal. Makes the club look strong and also helps Isak's cause if he re-integrates into training and the team. He looks like a spoilt child who has been chastised and has leaned a lesson. Makes it more palatable for supporters rather than just appearing to be being a spoilt child who got away with it. Adam P
Just now, gdm said: seems it was a fair reading of it after all then eh ? I read Eddie’s words, not Hope’s journalistic spin and it’s still ambiguous. He sent him home from Celtic and didn’t know where he was spending his time away from the tour. He ddint quite say that Isak refused to go on tour just made noises about players behaving correctly. On Hope’s spin, it does sound like you are right but I still think Eddie is in charge and players have less leeway than you think. Their contracts don’t allow them just to take the piss completely and no one at the club wants the situation to get out of hand.
