They hijacked our move as they want him too though. If he was number 2 on their list after Isak, why lose out on him when they knew they’d beat us to him and still have a run at Isak?

The word "hijacked" is massively over used on here anyway. As you say, if we're going for players that the top clubs are also interested in, then us bidding is obviously going to trigger them to bid too. That isn't hijacking, it's just competition. No clubs are out there spending >£50m purely to stop us having a player.

For all the arrogant and smug behaviour of their 'fans' on social media, Liverpool have already shown their hand - they're desperate to get him. Look at the lengths they're going to with all the Romano stuff. We know they need a forward and can't go into September without one. They're banking on him throwing his toys and us buckling under all the pressure. But time is running out.

There will come a point - 10, 15, 20 days later that Liverpool either raise their offer or switch targets. We'll have to reject, because we now have no one left to go for, and because prices keeo escalating for alternatives, which is why we need an even bigger fer to sell Isak late in the winfow. I think we went big for Sesko with a mindset of selling Isak, but also knowing that Sesko was the last realistic option to replace Isak and make a clean break.

If Liverpool have to give up, and they will if we hold our ground, they'll go big for someone else. If that happens, I believe we can start reintegrating Isak because there'll be no point in him downing tools and sulking. He'll know he needs a good season for a big foreign team to come in and pay what he wants.

This.

Liverpool fucked it when they prioritised Ekitike. It gies beyond us- signing Isak would have been them properly throwing a gauntlet down to Man City and Haaland to say last year was no flash in the pan and they're taking over now.

Isak and his agent fucked it with the miscalculation that we could be bullied into selling with zero other frontline strikers on the books and that Liverpool would wait around forever.

If Howe is as keen as is being reported/implied to get Isak out the door no matter what then I'd be disappointed and suggest he needs to hold his nerve.

Generally I'd agree with you on the hijacking, and I do think most of our failed business this summer has more to do with us shopping in a higher tier, and the unfortunate coincidence that so many of the "top" clubs were looking at the same positions with money to spend.

But the Ekitike one is a bit suspicious imo. We were making progress with Ekitike, then out of the blue, reports come in that Liverpool like Ekitike BUT they like Isak more and were willing to pay 120 mil...

I think they definitely tried to use that situation as leverage. We told them to fuck off, and they signed Ekitike who they valued highly anyway and to ensure they ended up with one of their top targets if we didn't sell Isak

Endrick is kicking off at Real Madrid because he lost the Number 9 jersey to Gonzalo Garcia.

Offer Madrid Isak for Endrick plus circa 40 million. Everyone wins. We get a Brazilian prospect (that we were linked to once)+ some cash. Real Madrid gets bragging rights over Liverpool and a world class striker. Isak gets to play for a proper top club with a pay raise. We get to snub Liverpool. Endrick gets to play with two of the Brazilian squad who are sound lads. The Brazil national team gets three players in the same club playing together regularly.

Liverpool gets to move on.

It’s not nonsense tho is it  he’ll be sold because EH wants it that way

You can't seriously believe that Howe wants him out, not when Isak is this level of talent. He will know that the player can be rehabilitated. We are not talking about Ryan Fraser here FFS.

Howe is a coach/manager, no one can blame him for looking at the Isak situation from the playing angle, that's his job.

But the board have to look at the bigger picture and Newcastle Utd's financial structure. They can't throw a valuable asset out of the door to a rival because they are being played.

If he is made to stay, one thing he will never be for me is a fucking hero. I don't give a shite about other players redemption from their histrionics to force a move, he's shown us he's a fucking wanker. I want him kept out of Liverpool's clutches though,he can man up and give his best or sit sulking on the bench, I don't give two fucks. Then he can fuck off to PSG or wherever

Why are we trying so hard to sign Sesko and are linked with Jackson, muani and considering Samu? Why not just sign Wissa and call it a day on the striker hunt? Or do you think we will have 3 strikers? That idea is ludicrous

So we'd effectively be paying 100 million for Endrick? [emoji38]

Whatever Madrid is comfortable with. Heard they paid 52 million quid for him. And I’m firmly in the Anywhere But Liverpool camp.

Love these fanciful suggestions  what if Endrick has no desire to play for us? And he plays for Real Madrid he’s probably on 3 times about of our highest earner

After failing with Sesko and Ekitike, we were bound to be linked with every other available striker. Doesn't mean that all of the links are true. We've been linked with thousands of players we may not have even been interested in over the years. It's part of this whole sumer reality show.

Absolutely. We cannot sell Isak to Liverpool. It's not even that I dislike the scousers (at least historically), but everyone and their Da would have our fucking eyes out over our purples season-in season-out. It sets an absolutely fucking awful precedent.

I think we are actively searching for a 2nd striker. I get that certain sections of the press make up bullshit but just totally disregarding everything seems silly and naive.

Just hoping we stand firm on our price, and don't let the scousers have him cheap.

If howe doesn't want him in the squad stick him in the reserves don't be held to ransom just because he wants away.
