I reckon Lascelles will have had a few choice words with Isak since he's been back. Not surprised if it was partly his call (along with the Leadership team) to say no to Isak training with the group again.

Probably went something like this:

Would fucking love this all to blow up in Romano’s face. Will have to eat a ton of shit and take a huge hit to his reputation if the move doesn’t happen given how much he’s relentlessly pushed it

Romano has been fucking insufferable this summer. Definitely been pushing agendas he's paid to push.

It'll set us back if we just give in and let him go for less than our value. IT sends the message that we can both be bullied by other clubs, and that players can force their move if they want it. His value will still be astronomical next season.

Pennywise like? 😂

His reputation is in the gutter for me already, he can’t stoop any lower. He gives Italian food and noncing a bad name.

Should things turn out in a way that Isak has to be re-integrated into the squad I think it would be easier for him due to his previous attitude.

He has always been very calm and measured, never a kiss the badge type, never beat on about the fans or the city or claimed undying love for all things Newcastle.

Just a pretty ruthless professional.

It would be easier for him to pick up where he left off than if he had been that type.

Unless one of Romano's sources is on the Newcastle board or he knows something that's in play that means Isak has to be sold I don't know how he can know that it's on.

Haven’t heard others say this, but my reading of Howe’s latest on this sounded a lot like a resigned acceptance that he’ll be off. Something like he’s a Newcastle player (and we want him to be) but we don’t want anyone who doesn’t want to play for us.

Absolutely CONCRETE

Absolutely LIKELY

Well… What one is it?

Maybe it's like concrete that has just had water added to it but remains in a fairly viscous form?

If he had been that type we wouldn’t be here.

He did preface the wanting someone who wants to play for us with what's best for the club and the squad. Howe's said so many contradictory/all encompassing things that I don’t know what's happening tbh, think he's just covering all bases, which makes sense.

Or that he wants him to think long and hard about his choices and if he realises he’s been a prick and comes crawling back with his tail between his legs and wants us, we’ll have him back.

That's how I read it, he wants Isak to want to play for us again before he considers it and come September when he's still training alone here, he will want it again.

'He gives Italian food and noncing a bad name"

How the hell do you give noncing a bad name? Genuinely curious. 😆

I think Isak stays, unless Liverpool break the bank, regardless of how it effects the player and his value, or the team.

Yasir will be out to prove a point IMO, especially given the behaviour or Isak's agent and Liverpool. He's probably taken it personally.

Whilst I'm disappointed to losing Isak in the squad I'd be quite glad for the club to stand up to the chancing cants.
