It's so obvious that Liverpool has been holding their bids back all along to just wait for him to make an absolute scene of it. That way they wouldn't need to repeat bids that were rejected before he threw a tantrum.

So in less than two months journos have confirmed that Isak is happy at Newcastle and both us and the player are ready to open contract talks after we secured Champions League, but he also told the club 12 months ago that this will be his last season here after being unhappy that the promised contract talks didn't happen. After all that we were then told by Jacobs last night that the likelihood now is Isak stays, signs a new deal with a transfer clause included, only for Isak to tell the club less than 12hrs later he'll never play for us again even if he stays.

in hindsight I wish we had sold him to anyone at the beginning of the window and signed Hugo before Liverpool were interested in him, but obviously that didn’t happen.

I imagine somewhere in his contract is a condition that he needs to play when available. If he refuses to play to an acceptable standard I wonder if we have any legal recourse to not pay him for that period?
