It's a world cup year, so I'm not sure Isak would want to spend the season not playing.

He can't afford to spend the whole season on strike or feigning injury. You really think clubs are still going to offer him £300k per week after spending a whole season on strike?  He'll soon put his head down out of fear of missing out on future earnings

I just watched a video on The Football Terrace (fairly big Youtube channel).  I already knew the cunt on there hates NUFC but I couldn't believe what I was listening to.

He was saying its disgusting the way Isak has been treated and toon fans are thick for believing the clubs lies.  Was going on about how he's been subject to all kinds of threats and even said he had to turn off comments on his statement because he was "PROBABLY" receiving racial abuse

Had to turn it off before I smashed my monitor screen in  [emoji38]

Its for clicks and likes. He has to pay the bills you know. So he kinda has to say that to get plastic Liverpool fans to like and watch.

Beginning of last season supposedly we were hamstrung with psr. So not giving isak a new contract was probably the right idea with four years left to go,

But just say we did offer him a new contract, after last season he'd be wanting another one. 😂 We couldn't keep doing it.

It wasn’t - a new contract would’ve been PSR-neutral.  It was an idiotic decision.

Why be quiet for weeks and then be a dick about it.

Surely he must have planned this statement a thousand times and yet this is the one he goes with!

In the words of Roy Keane..  he is a baby.

A big baby

It is clearly a product of chatgpt.

Say something like...

Even aside from the reputational hit, being away from competitive football for an entire year could fundamentally alter the trajectory of his career.

It would be an incredibly, preposterously dumb decision. But who knows, bro might be dumb enough to do it.

Everything points to Isak and his team being the liars in this situation. If the club had known for as long as he states that he wanted out we'd have never let Wilson go on a free, you don't leave yourself in the position we're in with zero options knowingly, plus there's the promo material for the new season including Isak and his very own statements in the press at the end of the season.

None of it makes sense except for under the conditions that Liverpool tapped him up and shook the tree, it was only when the media sycophants started printing the bin dippers desire to court Isak that the toys came out the pram so I'm not buying what he's selling.

I do however believe that the mess at the top of the food chain means that a new contract that was promised maybe fell through the gaps and I can absolutely understand that being a catalyst to his unhappiness, but talk to the club and do it properly, this is amateur hour.

As for the season ahead, we have no choice but to keep him now and he will have to accept that at some point, he'll have no choice but to play for us again or his career will go up in flames. At the very least he cannot go to a world cup without competitive football under his belt and looking at the wider picture, no one is going to want damaged goods next summer. He says its in everyone's best interest that he moves on, I'd argue Alex that it's in everyone's best interest that you play football, stop sulking and put yourself back out there.

I mean the statement doesn't say "Isak will not be allowed to leave this summer under any circumstances". It's just that conditions must be met.

As far as we know, those conditions are likely to be "meet our valuation and allow us to replace him before we let him go.". Neither of which are likely at this point (in fact the latter more unlikely than the former - Newcastle gets to decide who is appropriate as Isak's replacement, and all the appropriate ones have been snapped up, one by Liverpool).

Therefore, unless two very unlikely events happen in the next two weeks, Isak stays. Adam Crafton's tweet is, again, just engagement farming for idiotic Liverpool fans.

I did not think a statement would come, but that is as clean cut as you can get and that last line leaves the door firmly open for him to come crawling back.

Guy at this point must be too embarrassed to come back any time soon :D

The part in hopes article about the split dressing room of players who support him and players who don't is rather worrying mind.

That’s absolute bollocks from Hope. The whole football world is against him (apart from Liverpool fans), so why would our own players support his stance?

Quote please?

I really can't be bothered through his article.

Said last night I'd have preferred no comment from the club, because I didn't think they'd get it a right or that they needed to.  Nice to wake up and see they've nailed it, and they were definitely expecting something like that from him

Dig your heels in lads.

Tbf, we’ve probably got a price and conditions.

It’ll always be 150m+ and a replacement. The fact we’d need two in a very small market means it’s not happening. Especially not to a rival club.

Every player has a price. With Isak it is 150 million and we have to have replacement. We have received no bid close to that value and we don't have a replacement.

That is what that statement means.

I’m pretty sure that they had a few variations of the club statement already written such that they could just choose the one that best matched the social media post, make some minor edits and issue it

He is an absolute helmet and hates us because of the Saudis. Wouldn’t pay any attention to him. Sometimes used to get on 5 Live and you can feel the bitterness oozing out.
