From Eddie’s latest interview he’s almost confirmed that Isak is lying about being promised an exit this window (he said the club’s statement was needed in this situation).
My guess is that he said he wanted to move a while back and the club said we’d look at it later. If so, no broken promises by the club.

An odd situation, I think he can and probably will play for us again, but I'm not sure he can be entirely reintegrated. Reintegration implies complete unity and trust, and I wouldn't want him anywhere near our first 11 in important games towards the end of the season. Our season rests on the Wilson replacement, not on Isak coming back into the team imo.

He may fill a shirt and be a body, but a void will be in place of his presence, and I won't feel any positive emotion towards whatever contributions he makes. I would much prefer it if he never plays for us again.

New leaf, et cetera. Trust, encouragement, reward, loyalty, satisfaction

This is why I think a new contract is so important, as much as Isak doesn't "deserve" anything for his actions, it is absolutely in everyone's best interest that the whole thing is renegotiated.

In my more optimistic moments this last month, i imagine his agent masked like an ISIS terrorist standing over Isak as he is forced at gunpoint to pen out the statement on Instagram, the threat of violence towards Isak's family in Sweden hanging over them.

I mean before this whole debacle he definitely did. He’s massively underpaid for his quality, but it’s completely understandable that the club didn’t give him one last summer.

A new deal with a sizeable but not prohibitive release clause (£120m or so) for next summer definitely feels the best resolution for the short term. Agent gets a small cut and can still get his pound of flesh next summer.

Agent will be retired by then. He wants his pension NOW.

Asking to leave two weeks before the season ended, with two huge games to play is pretty deplorable like. Shows exactly what type of character he is imo.

I'm still in shock at how out of character it all seems from him as he always came across as humble and a team player

Turns out we'd already broken the no dickheads rule

He's on £190k a day, not a week

Christiano Ronaldo is the highest paid footballer/athlete on career earnings (estimated £207m). Apparently even he didn’t earn as much much as Matt Targett last year 🤷‍♂️

We need Liam Neeson.

Aye, if it's true that he's on 140k/week that would mean he's been on the same wages as Joelinton for the best part of a year. That doesn't seem right.

If it does end up with Isak staying, wonder if might help his reintegration with the fans a bit if he was to, say, switch represenataion.

Feels that was the diplomatic response from Howe was hinting at, in terms of if he was badly advised.

Isak does stay, getting new representation would be a "holds hands up, accept, move on in the short term".
