Still maintain this is a work like I said in July. Keep other clubs away and then beat Liverpool when he's in the starting line up.

I'm either wrong and this is ignored and buried under other comments or I'm right and then I get to be smug for the rest of the week.

Do you reckon Isak will have one of those half and half scarves on Monday night?

I mean I'm not sure if footballers actually care about Newcastle like we do but surely he must want his teammates to do well

I imagine he'll at least want Ekitike to be a bit shit.

We did it with the cup win though.

Plus, as I said in July, it was to take away the pressures of "second fiddle to Isak" schtick. I mean, I get that that particular aspect hasn't worked out as would have liked since we still haven't signed a fucking striker, so might as well hit Liverpool with a shock since they've been prize cunts for the entire summer. Also there is the underlying rhetoric that Eddie has subtly pushed for a while now; PSR stifles competition. It's a massive gamble, a ton of strategic thinking and a whopping leap of faith and I get that, but I can just see that this is part of a massive slow burn to give the premier league enough rope etc.

Or my mind has just gone into overdrive to give me hope, but I can absolutely see this being the case. Plus, the club and player have other options to let this just fall away into nothing if they want.

Hey, if it's not then it's not. Id like to think this is what's happening, but if not then some random daft fucker on this forum is wrong. I can live with that.

So when are we expecting movement, if any, on this transfer?

There is essentially 1 week to go. I can't foresee a deal of this magnitude and complexity being hastily completed on deadline day, but who knows.

So for this deal to have any chance of going through now, I feel like Liverpool are going to have to lodge their second bid, irrespective of whether our own striker search has been successful, by Wednesday/Thursday at the very latest.

The idea of us signing 2 strikers within a week anyhow, seems beyond remote at this point. The tone of Eddie Howe's presser today also gave me the impression that he was preparing for Isak's reintegration into the squad.

I'm also curious as to whether Liverpool will even bother with a second bid if the well reported "conditions for a sale" haven't been met. Let's face it, Isak needs Liverpool more than they need him at this point (strangely enough there seems to be little noise as to an alternative target for Liverpool if they are forced to pivot)

Movement? Transfer? What?

it simply won’t happen. Only Isak himself is still dreaming, may be. Even Liverpool would definitely know it’s dead already, just they want to unsettle the player and create more troubles to us.

I wouldn't put it past the dippers to try our hand on Monday for maximum damage, they know they won't get him but they'll table a bid Monday morning for circa £130m to try and unsettle us as much as possible before the game.

If anything, it would have the opposite effect imo.

Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised either

Any truth to the rumour that an epic climb down, apology, “I was badly advised” angle is being planned if as it seems he ends up staying. Probably nonsense but I’d heard this from a few and one who is fairly reliable.

What's the source?

I don't doubt that's what will end up happening if he does stay, there isn’t really an alternative and everything the club & Howe have said publicly has made it clear the door is not closed.

I reckon if so, the club's response would be instantaneous and unequivocal. "The conditions of a sale have not been met, and Isak will not leave the club."

Not really a source as such, a patient of mine whose been fairly on the money with other stuff, think he knows someone kind of at the club or at least that person is clued up. Hardly concrete 😂 But I had heard something similar from someone else.

Yeah, I heard somewhere -- can't remember where -- that the whole thing is an elaborate hoax to catch Liverpool with their pants down. Isak has been  in on it from the start! I want to believe!

They really don’t need to - we’re going into playing the best in the league with Gordon up front. There’s little to no doubt on whose going to win on Monday

😂 To be fair what I’ve heard is more an acceptance on his part that he knows he’s not going to get his move this summer and has no other option.

Apart from the day of the week, that exact sentence could have been used for Man City at home last season.

It was in this thread last night, that’s probably where you heard it

And it’s the nonsensical ramblings of someone who’s taken it way too far with their intake of psychoactive drugs

I think Liverpool will bid on Tuesday then depending on our answer (surely rejected) they’ll start looking at other targets and we’ll know it’s over I don’t think it will drag on till deadline day
