The thing is that people like Deeney, if he were the manager/owner of a football club would be giving it the ‘let him rot in the reserves, f*ck his career’ patter.
Shows a complete inability to understand the situation or see things from the club’s point of view. A contract is signed by two parties.

Nicky Butt on Alexander Isak:

“People make mistakes. I seem to remember Wayne Rooney having rumours around him and he stayed and went on to become Manchester United’s record goalscorer – but the way this one [the Isak situation] has gone on, it would have been ‘see you later’.

When the player is repeatedly saying it – and he has been for two or three weeks now, [Alexander] Isak – it’s just different. It isn’t one quote that he didn’t mean, so he would have been moved on by now.

I hope that Newcastle do that. They’re an amazing, big football club with an unbelievable fanbase. They’ve given him the platform to become the superstar he is now and changed his and his family’s lives. I think the way he’s behaved is sickening, really, but I do think he will get his move to Liverpool.

There’s a way of doing it. If you lose the fans, especially at a club like Newcastle, you have a long way to go to get them back on side.

I had it after we played Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final because of some false rumours that were kicking about. You can win them back, but you could also lose the players in the changing room.

He’s basically saying ‘you aren’t good enough for me to play with’. You’re with your team-mates more than your own family at this level of football so, if you’ve lost the guy that sits next to you, it’s time to go.

With Isak, he’s essentially just said ‘I am going and I want to go to Liverpool’.

It’s really messy. He’s obviously got his reasons but I would hate it… hate that he thought I wasn’t good enough for him to play with me. It wouldn’t happen in the changing rooms that I was in.

You’d maybe let it go once or twice. But the way this one has gone on is too far. I actually think the senior players, the leadership team, should go to the club and say they don’t want him around. It’s killing the squad; the way he is behaving is so selfish.

Football is a job sometimes for these lads, no more than that. He’s not from Newcastle, he’s not a Geordie, he’s just thinking about his next move and how he gets to his dream – winning the Champions League or whatever it may be."

Had Twitter and Romano been around in Rooney's time, he'd have used them to suit his needs, just as his wife and Vardy's wife manipulate the media available to them. The Rooney situation would have been as messy if not messier than Isak, because there is even more hatred between Man U and Man C.

Ex-pros like Butt and Shearer like to boss it like they are know-it-alls but they don't understand how the situation has changed. Isak's folk, and likely Liverpool have been able to use new media to orchestrate a huge psyop while remaining in the dark with plausible deniability. Even the Isak statement on Insta can be blamed on his agent. He just has to say that other folk do his socials and that it was not his idea.

If Liverpool struggle up front against us on Monday, I wonder if they will hit the panic button (or it'll be the straw breaking the donkey's back) and will come in with a realistic big bid for Isak. If they walk Monday's match, with big roles for Wirtz and Ekitike, the media will 100% knee jerk to the conclusion that Isak is not needed. If LFC are on the fence about Isak given the high fee, it may stop a bid coming in, again partly due to pundits and their kneejerk amplification of  what will only be one performance. The other remaining 36 fixtures plus the Champions League may be different.

How the fuck does Troy Deeney get anyone in football to take him seriously, he’s an awful pundit, thick as mince yet seems to be everywhere spouting his brainrot.

It's the modern way, innit. Brainless foghorns spouting off for clicks.

Deeney was manager of Forest Green for 29 days before getting sacked, anything he says should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Incidentally couldn't manage the squad in any way unsurprisingly. Calling players shit, threating them etc.

something hilarious to me about a club that’s vegan and eco conscious hiring Deeney.

Surely Isak should wave the white flag next Friday if there's no progress rather than desperately wait till the final minutes of deadline day. At least then, he can save what little credibility he has left with the fans.

1. First he should sack his agent immediately.

2. Meet Eddie and the leadership group for "clear the air talks"

3. Apologise to teammates, Eddie and the fans in a statement outlining his renewed commitment to the club this season.

4. Club releases video of him and Osula doing some ridiculous dance in training.

5. Sign possible new contract with release clause next summer

He's got no credibility left as far as I'm concerned, made his bed , now lie in it.

What an absolute waster this guy is man. The way he’s gone about wanting a move away has been so unprofessional and disrespectful, that the only fitting response is to ensure he doesn’t get his way.

if we do that, I’m now 50/50 whether he will learn how to act professionally again, or carry on acting like a rat and just rot. Don’t think I really care either way any more tbh. Fuck him.

Perfect succinct summary for me.

Yeah I'm about the same.

My order of preference would be...

- He eats humble pie, comes back and gives his all

- He rots in the reserves for the next three years

.

.

.

.

- Sell him to anyone except Liverpool, don't care who or for what price

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

- Sell him to Liverpool for £150m

Selling him to Liverpool for a shit price is so far down the list I'd break the forum trying to draw it out.

Paul Merson says he's definitely moving to Liverpool...whatever that's worth

That Kris Boyd said same earlier, that basically for the actions he's taken, he must have been guaranteed Liverpool would be back in for him, so he'd end up there by close of the window.

Absolutely nothing.

Like anyone with inside information on anything ever would share it with Merson. Probably heard it from the bloke in the kebab van
