healthyaddiction
I feel like a game of chicken is going on. Liverpool are waiting for us to go to them and say we'll do a deal for £120m, we're waiting for Liverpool to come to us and say they're going to offer £150m. Just waiting for whoever blinks first. frankpingel
It's two days til the window slams shut. Liverpool are proving us all right in that there actions aren't of a decent upstanding club. They are waiting to offer another (relatively) low offer when they deem us desperate. Unfortunately they and Isak deserve each other. I only hope it doesn't happen and we get an out of the blue offer from a European team.

The other question is when do we move for the 2nd striker? Do it before the Isak deal and there's a chance Liverpool low-ball again, knowing we probably need to cash in. Do it after and whoever we go for is going to have £20m added to their asking price with at most a day or two to get the deal done.

He makes a great point about agents being financially incentivised to seek moves for their clients, whether it's good for the player or not. Desperately needs regulated properly alongside excessive loans, multi club ownership, buy back clauses etc. None of these will be looked at because they benefit the richest clubs. maze
I’d wait until January or next summer. Liverpool ain’t the only club here. We could do a p/ex + cash with someone abroad.

That position is essentially the same as saying that he is staying. And I dont think that is in the clubs best interest, and I dont think Eddie sees it that way either. I can understand it being a tough pill to swallow letting him go to Liverpool, but our focus should be on what helps the club move forward. And I think that is getting a very good price (£130-140m) for getting rid of a disruptive element.

No, you're right on that but we'd still have a potential cliff-edge that we have to sell before, whether that's 1st Sept or 30th June it still puts us in a weak position. I suppose waiting means we could end up with more than one club interested which would help.

Dream scenario for me, irks me scousers are getting a free hit as it's allowing them to dictate the fee more than they should. Deep down I know he should be gone and yesterday, but I can't face the way they've manoeuvred this transfer to their advantage and we are just expected to hand the goods over just because. Isaks an idiot mind listening to him - though who knows what is going on. Feels all very odd to me. Edited August 30, 2025 by duo
Cf
Ok the topic of squad harmony, good eggs, no dickheads, etc, I know it's a really high priority for us/Eddie but as we aim to reach the very top we'll have to start dealing with and managing this type of player a bit more. If we are in a position where the best choice on the pitch isn't the best off it then that's a situation we need to learn to handle going forwards. Isak is a twat obvs.

Unless we’ve agreed behind closed doors with Liverpool on the fee (I.e £125m plus add ons), there’s no way in a million years we sign another striker first. As if no fee is agreed, and we’ve got another striker coming in for £65m, Liverpool know we HAVE to sell because we’ll badly need that money, so they’ll come back with same offer. Our position is weakened by signing another attacker first. If things have not been agreed, it’s far too late now in the window to do this deal. Gola
True, the better we get, the more cunts with egos we're gonna be carrying. Lots of learning can be had from this.
gbandit
Think people also need to understand we’ll never ever have a player who’s as big of a cunt as this lad again, not even close

His behaviour means we need him off the books and our purchases, now and the next few days, mean we will need the money. I just want him gone, he's a boil that needs lancing. You might be right. I'm still holding out hope that the people saying we can sell him in January/next summer to fund this summer's spending are right, and that is what we'll do. Still expecting to be disappointed and see him go for less than £150M though. This whole tapping up via the Twitter-cunts needs looking into ffs Edited August 30, 2025 by Peppe
nufc4eva
A player whether they want a move or not when under contract should be honouring that and be professional. I really want us to take a stand and tell him to sort himself out and maybe move next year or you will rot for 3 years to stop the nonsense. On other hand I kind of appreciate what a fee of 140 million could do for us building next few years even if he's not part of it and difficult to replace his goals. A stronger squad contributing in more games could elevate us more than relying on him.

This isn’t even remotely a drama. Other than the fee everything else will have been agreed between Isak and those rancid plastic cunts. He basically rocks up and does his medical once the fee sheet is agreed. You can even provisionally submit it to the FA and do the medical afterwards. black_n_white
Also Downie said the initial fee was 110 plus 7.5 add ons? It’ll be unusual for them to add anything more than 10 million to that deal. Maybe 120 plus 7.5? Totally guessing now mind. Would people be happy with that? We have to give a slice of the profit to Sociedad, replace him and make a decent profit. I’d do £140m, no less than £125m in fee and £15m in extras. This is about principles and setting the tone, on how we operate. It's been a orchestrated plan to bully us and it's completely fucked our pre-season, dropping 5 points in the process.
