Imagine we are the club to sell our not for sale striker, and at a discount price

But we aren't are we? Unless you are referring to Wissa or Larsen?

I just can't see us selling on the cheap, it's such a bad look and goes against everything we know about the Saudis. I also think Howe would also have him back if he was prepared to reintegrate after the window closes. We simply can't let the dippers and Isak win.

According to Craig Hope he believes we could be ready to sell if Liverpool offer £120m now.

I don't know where this narrative is coming from, but a world where we are paying £60m for lesser proven players and selling one of the world's most prized strikers for £120m is insane.

Unfortunately we’ve been put in a position where need to spend over the odds on two strikers and that money has to come from somewhere and that probably means being over a barrel by Liverpool who partly caused this mess. Personally I’d make them wait till Jan his value will still be there and they don’t immediately get what they want

Or we could just keep Isak unless they pay the £150m.

We could but I don’t think they will which is why we are trying to sign another striker, which as I say we will need money in for…

But I don't see Brentford selling Wissa for £40m, or Wolves selling Larsen for £55m, so I don't see why we feel the need to let Isak go for - by some reports - a fee of £120m-£130m if we are lucky.

Oh don’t get me wrong, i think we only let him go if we get another striker but I do think we are trying hard for that other striker and I think wolves signing that genk striker will mean we will sign JSL and Isak will go for £120-£130m because we’ll have spent well over £120m on two strikers

I hope any of the people saying we should just get rid and 135m is fine are prepared for this playbook to play out with every player that other clubs want.

Yes, but...

not every player is going to do what Isak has done.

Yes, but every club and agent will know they can unsettle our players and push for a move. Then if push comes to shove they can go nuclear and do the Isak method.

Would you have said Isak would do this 6 months ago?

They will, even if they don't go full scorched earth, once we roll over the precedent is set and the playbook will be repeated.

"Let's just get rid, even for far less than he's worth, I'm sick of him"

This is exactly what he and they want and it's exactly why it shouldn't happen when they literally hold none of the cards.

Any player with a lick of sense will be thinking that this is exactly the way to fuck your career up and get yourself on the universal shit list.

Totally.

Messi, Rooney, Kane, Suarez, Ronaldo.  Careers never recovered after they went on strike and caused a stink to try and get a move.

How many times did Anelka turn the situation he was into full on Chernobyl and still waltz onto the next big club?

This is my stance, yet football journalists seem to think we are ready to capitulate. I'm really intrigued to see what we do because it will reveal a lot about our leadership and what the bottom line is.

He is one of the best strikers in world football who has three years left on his contract.  We are a striker light, yet we should sell way below market value because he spat his dummy out?  There are many case in history of players doing the same, the club holding firm that said player going on to having a storming season.  I see this being no different.

I am not saying that NUFC should cave, just the opposite. It sets a bad precedent and some agents and players would go that route.

But there are some people who would never take this route.  As I understand it, Woltemader really wanted to go to Bayern, who wouldn't? He didn't go the Isak route to force a move.

No, I don't understand Isak. He's set out to sabotage the club. That's quite unexpected and abnormal.

I get Wissa. He's not making much as top-level footballers go, he's at the end of his career, it's his chance at the Chamions League... He knows he isn't worth £65m.

If Isak thinks he's worth £400,000 a week or whatever, he surely must understand that at his age, in this market,  with 3 years on his contract, the club can ask for £150m.

"Hope" is doing a whole load of lifting in this like. I personally think this is just an edge case and not the norm, and can't really see it happening again. Its literally just pure conjecture and there is no proof it'll happen again. These "Sagas" have happened at other clubs before, and they've all been fine after.
