I think a lot about the Carroll deal these days with Isak. Obviously a very different decision process because of our shitbag owner at the time, but in retrospect we sold him at the peak of his value and it turned out to be a poorly thought out panic buy for Liverpool.

 

I would have never believed that if you told me that is what would happen on the day the deal went through. It genuinely felt like the worst thing I’d ever experienced as a supporter. But with the benefit of hindsight, it turned out to be a good decision for the club (not that it matters since we were hopeless anyway).

I think selling Isak tomorrow has the potential to work out similarly. He’s better than Carroll ever was and he won’t be a complete flop, but very few players are actually worth 100m+ and we will have people in place now that can ensure that money is reinvested and reinvested well.

The bid needs to be in and accepted in principle with the signed papers back with the PL before the 7pm deadline - you can do the medical etc afterwards, so it is possible right up to 7pm

Sure there's been loads of deals over years fallen through because they run out of time on deadline night, and that was after the fee was agreed.

But as I say, this is Liverpool, they'll get loads of added time, as per.

Was just chatting about this. If not complete by 7pm then a deal sheet is sent in which gives another two hours until 9pm. Is the medical allowed after that, i.e. the next day? What happens if an issue cropped up in a medical once the paperwork was in? 

 

Surely medicals have to be complete before 7pm otherwise that's huge jeopardy for the buyer?

I just don't think the move happens in a vacuum, though. I don't want us to establish ourselves as a selling club on the day before we establish ourselves as a genuine entity in this league. Not a stepping stone. Not someone that can be pushed around.

Everything has to be done by 9pm, so agreeing a deal at 7pm would only give two hours for all the paperwork and medical etc.
