Spurs had a: - 30 year old striker - 12 months left on his contract - he had wanted to leave publicly for years - No European revenue to offset any loss in fee - Spurs are run for real profitability. Not PSR profitability but the real stuff - 1 buyer - low resale value for the buyer - previously refused to train in a prior window They got £20m more than Chelsea got for a 28 year old Hazard 2 years earlier. You say they were in a stronger position because they don’t need the PSR headroom. But spurs never have any intention of being close to their PSR position because they are run for profit. We had a: - 26 yo - 3 years left on the contract - 1 buyer (for this window, time enough on his deal to get another) - not training and insisting we want to leave - no short term PSR shortfall apparently There’s every possibility this could’ve been handled better. The entire way through. So what you’re saying is spurs concerns were vastly different to ours. Is what we as a football club trying to do comparable to what spurs were trying to do in that window. No. Was Harry Kane as toxic as Isak was behind the scenes, you’ve no idea. We do know that Kane came back to the fold and contributed that does not mean Isak would. Go away and look at the best alternatives and worst alternatives to a negotiated agreement for both clubs at the material time. You can’t just look at transfers in isolation, what if Bayern had walked away? Is a gambler smart or lucky? Mike Ashley got his fee and interest on Andy Carroll. Anyway say what you want now. I’ll not reply further.

Says PIF ignored football related issues and just did it for the money, basically saying they're greedy like Ashley. PIF obviously don't care about the money that much, the Newcastle project was as much about building their global brand than anything else. They are trying to grow the club within PSR shackles. We are still trying to recruit the best in class at least given we won't be able to compete with cartel clubs.

Teasy
Christian Purslow saying that we should have sold Isak for Liverpools first offer. Because then we would have had more time to replace him. Except we were already bidding on players to replace him the entire time. Makes no sense at all. I’ll not reply further. Your argument doesn’t make sense. If Levy didn’t make a deal that summer, they would have seen arguably their best player in the modern era leave for free. We don’t know what would’ve happened if we stuck to our guns. All we do know is we (a) would have got closer to our asking price or (b) kept a player with 3 years left on his contract. We’ll never know because we folded at £125/130m. Wwve repeatedly seen a levy stick to his numbers for selling players. I blame the club to some extent for Isak’s behaviour. Duppy know who fi frighten.

The Narcissist
The club haven't handled this at all well. Serious questions to be asked. We've a 15 goal PL striker and a young German with bags of potential who were dying to be here. Onwards and upwards.

robbo_11
Initially annoyed by this earlier, but now relieved that is done. He clearly had no intention of playing for us again and while I thought we should hold out for £150m I'd prefer players that wanted to play for us. I don't condone the Wissa behaviour as well - generally you've got players making demands so would expect him looking for a big pay day to Saudi in a few seasons at 31/32. He is a world class striker, on the whole a great finisher, it is disappointing because he didn't seem that character but I'd much rather keep players like Hall, Livramento, Burn, Gordon, Bruno G and others that seem more team focused than individual. Things I think will happen: - Isak has signed a 6 year contract trebling his weekly salary, but in 3 years you will get bigger clubs than Liverpool in for him i.e. Barca, Real Madrid and he will agitate to leave. The Scousers will call him all sorts and forget how he behaved to leave us. It isn't real world either - he is essentially rewarded for poor morals and behaviour so can see this pattern repeating. You'll probably see a shift in media narrative when this happens to LFC. - Ekitike and Isak will start well together, but behind the scenes will be a fall out as they're similar playing styles. Isak will be paid more than Ekitike which will probably cause him to ask for a pay rise should continue his fine form. Just wait for the big games when one of them gets dropped. - I think he will do well initially, but X will be raving about him when he goes on his 7-10 game scoring streaks. The rest of the games where he was off it will not be mentioned, but they'll know. He is usually a player for the big occasions, such as the cup final, but when we needed him he wasn't always there - Arsenal (A), Liverpool (A). In a TikTok culture his clips will get lapped up such as the 'assist' v Everton, but those that attend a 90 minute match will get true representation of his game. - Wissa and Woltemade will be compared to Isak for foreseeable future. It is human nature to do this, but really hoping they hit 30 goals + between them and we are more cohesive as a team. Often we would be shown graphics of NUFC with and without Isak suggesting we were a one man team.
AyeDubbleYoo
I’m really not confident Isak will do well enough to get a Madrid etc move. As much to do with his body and his lack of stamina. This will probably be his one massive move, maybe part of the reason he was so desperate to get it done.

Their fans might get annoyed at his lack of stamina and muscle niggles, but on the other hand, they will create a lot of chances, and it's hard to see him not scoring a hatful.
