I did, formal email and all.

Dear Sir,

I hope this email finds you in good health. It has come to my attention that a valuable player employed by the club has been somewhat reticent to play for your storied club. I am sure you've looked at this from every angle and weighed the actions and alternatives available to the club. There is no doubt in my mind you've very carefully thought things through. However, whatever thoughtfully considered conclusions you've drawn. DON'T SELL THAT CUNT TO LIVERPOOL.

Thank you for your consideration.

Yours respectfully,

R0cafella.

Cmon bro, seriously.

He had a contract with no means of getting out of it. Whatever he said has no relevance to that.

This is precisely why I described what we did as folding because it's what happened.

I think if a player is generally unhappy, I think he could have maintained the "not for sale" strategy. I would have had faith in Eddie talking to that players and discussing it properly.
Isak's way of going about it however, was off the chart levels of toxic and I think having him still at the club would have been all consuming, both on a day to day basis and within the media.
I hate that he's at Liverpool now but it now allows Eddie to fully focus on the squad and not having Isak as a constant distraction, and stress.

Staff management is very stressful in all walks of life so I have no issues with that being taken off Eddie. We need him at 100%.

I agree we folded but what he apparently said was 'i will continue to refuse to train or play if you dont let me go' which for me explains the fold from PIF. A harsh decision for PIF to make and as @Mattoon just said, one that a fan wouldnt take but may prove to be the right one for the long term health of the club.

Yes I understand that. Again I'm not bothered about what he does or doesn't do. I've got my stance hes got his.

As I've mentioned this isn't about the money as far as I'm concerned, we had to show the world we won't be bullied and we decided to cut our losses. It may work out fine that's cool but the respect doesn't come back.

It's weird, I thought Owen was the last player who was overt in his opinion how much bigger and better he was than Newcastle and how he was doing us a favour by being here.
Which, given his status at the time, borderline worldclass, recent Balon Dor winner, coming from Real Madrid, Englands number 1 striker etc, and coming into Souness' crap team that finished 14th, you could argue a case for - even if we had been top 5 previous 3 seasons.

With Isak, he never came across like that but has shown his utter contempt even more than Owen which is even more unforgivable, especially because a) we're the ones that developed him to this level, he wasn't a superstar before he came, just a Sesko level prospect with a high ceiling. and b) NUFC are also ambitious and an elite club in the making - it's not as though it's a poor fit for him to be the poster boy of this project.

Genuinely baffled by his thinking but who cares anymore

Oh yeah, that's not hard.

"Those daft deluded Geordies could resist the mighty respect Fc? After all we did for them? Who do they think they are? We even let em have a cup to make them feel better but when the big boys come knocking they knew they had to roll over and roll over they did

YNWA"

Probably back slapping all round. Totally ignoring their underhand, scummy tactics and any similarities with the Trent thing. Or Torres, Suarez or Coutinho for that matter.

There used to be a dead sound Liverpool fan on here. But I’d imagine he has wisely not been on for a while  Been some fairly colourful language aimed towards the Scousers.

@rgk_lfc what say you?……..

Mainly that we are an awful bunch of fans, 'free Isak,' dont like players downing tools but we left him no choice.

Just think its funny the hypocrisy they give us over our owners when they happily sell to them and dont berate the great Aleksander Isak for choosing and being paid by us over 3 years.

I despise our owners as much as the next person but I won't give up my club.

Im sure they called Torres etc all names under the sun when they left.

The only thing I do agree with is wishing career ending injuries or death on any players is inexcusable... it's just football at the end of the day. I wish him to fail but not by these standards. Just that he wont live up to the hype.

I think Isak is an interesting case of someone clearly lacking in maturity and moral development. I don't mean that as an insult exactly; his behaviour has reminded me of something a child might do when trying to get their own way. Not facing up to things properly and just shutting off.

I would never wish death or a career ender on him. That’s too far.

I’ll laugh if/when he gets injured, though

Can I say that as a real-life school teacher, I kinda felt Eddie's pain in having to swat back mentions of Isak by students on a daily basis. They mostly support the big six like most football fans from this side of the world. I'm just as relieved this is done. [emoji38]

Slightly different scenarios though. Owen never wanted to be here, he wanted to go back to Liverpool, so he saw this as a step down. Isak saw it as a step up initially, once he became a worldwide name, he then wanted to move up a rung on the ladder. So he was happy enough here for two years, then lost interest as soon as he saw a bigger pay check on the horizon.
