Salah has been supreme in terms of creation in the last few years. He’s not doing the greedy thing anymore. The issue is - will the wider team and setup be optimised for him.

Even if they aren’t - he’ll be good for a decent amount of goals anyway.

Off topic, but Mane being an absolute selfish cunt probably didn't do well for Salahs stubbornness.. Mane was worse. There was a season where Liverpool scored 89 goals, and Mane had 22 goals and 1 assist (in 36 games). 1 assist out of 89 goals as a winger, and he was still out there being mad everytime he didn't get the ball.. I can see why Salah didn't want to pass the ball to him.

Think Isak would have a much easier time if Trent hadn't moved on to bigger and better things.

He was a cheat code for quick ball progression, key passes etc.

Isak would’ve feasted off that quick direct play.

Isak signed a six-year contract, and they say he's making 300k a week. Plus, he probably got a nice signing bonus, and his agent got a big payday from Liverpool for making it happen.

Honestly, he's set. He won't care if he sucks. He's got his money for six years. The way he and his agent acted this summer should have been a major red flag for Liverpool, they clearly were in it for the money not sporting ambition.

So, it's not worth revelling in how bad he's been for them as that does not affect him one bit. He and his agent are swimming in the £ as was their goal. So they won. Even if he is dog shite for the next 6 years for them. He still won.

I'm just enjoying Liverpool's misfortune and hoping both Wirtz and Isak totally bomb this season. While salah and VVD fall of a cliff.

In this story. No matter how it turns out. Isak and his agent won.

Think you’re equating financial security with happiness. Very much not the case for young sportsmen who strive to be the best they can and often their self-esteem is (overly) based upon this. He’s fucked his legacy here and will be desperate to create a brand new bigger and better shiny red one which he can persuade himself makes his choices and actions justified.

Agree with this. I think Isak has a hugely talented. But he’s not a Zlatan type cash money striker wherever he goes.  His record shows he’s capable of a prolonged stinker. But he’s also clearly a proper player too. Howe unlocked that and there’s no guarantee Slot will.

He was clearly over arrogant. To destroy your reputation at a club like Newcastle so easily you must be super arrogant that you’ll make a bigger reputation elsewhere. He’s thrown away a lot of love.

Yep, the arrogance that this move would guarantee continued success whilst burning the bridges at the club you were idolized at is very unhinged behavior - even the “coldest” athlete would think twice over that and I’m genuinely still shocked about his heel turn. I said it before, he chose to go somewhere for a huge sum of money but still was never going to have an entire system built around him; that may change after Mo goes but in Ekiteke they have a more physical and quicker striker that tactically seems more nimble than Isak.

The safety posts here of “he’ll come good eventually” are hilarious to me because I feel like many posters need to protect their take on Isak currently with that. No need to do that here, safe space, have a wild and aggressive take about him now and forever, nobody should be pulling up anyone on this turncoat’s performances in Merseyland

Only way he "fails" there is if his body lets him down and he struggles with injuries etc, which is entirely possible if we reflect on his time with us. But if he gets up to speed then he should score goals regularly for them.

However if they don't win the league again or a champions league with the investment they made in the summer then there will be a lot of people critical of him and others. Rightly so as it would mean they have gone backwards.

I guess the parallel is Andy Cole? Left to guarantee success. Won a truckload of trophies and was a key player, no doubt, but never reached the personal heights. I don't think Cole is one that personally cares tremendously about how he's remembered and I guess Isak is the same. But also weirdly Cole is chippy so maybe that's just him.

For me it's not a safety point/post. I genuinely do think hes' too good to be a proper flop.

Etikite might be a major issue though. He's looked great. His touch on the run and ability to shift the ball quickly is... Isakesque. SO many attackers constantly fail at getting their feet sorted - balance, coordination, rhythm. He would've fit our system supremely.

I reckon he saw Arne Slot was an anagram for Earn Lots. Doubt there is any sporting pride in him.

He's clearly playing half fit and rusty, his own fault obviously. Expectations will be huge with that price tag, though, for him to improve fast.

It's when he's fully up to speed and playing at full tilt several times a week that we'll see if he keeps getting knackered on 60 minutes and getting various groin / hamstring type injuries after some proper sprints that then keep him out for spells, like he was with us even when he was trying.

Rinse and repeat the fitness cycle until he's carted off for glue. A particularly weak glue, like Pritt Stick. Hope so, obviously. And that he gets booed until his daft head falls off.

Ekitike doing well, but I'm not delighted with that. Apart from coming across like a twerp, a spell out of the team for him and letting the weasel Isak and Wurst try to carry that expectation on their own with Dr Eggman losing the plot would be lovely.

Most assists in PL history as a defender. Second is err, Andy Robertson.

Let's just say it was nice timing to jump ship if your name is Jurgen Klopp.

You are projecting your attitude towards making money on players. You perhaps don't take any pride or care in what you do, provided you're making money regardless.

Isak was already making very good money.

You must be joking if you think he won't care about sucking at Liverpool and the move being a disaster, just because of the money he's making.

Isak's attitude this summer was a problem, If the rumors are true, he was pissed he didn't get a raise on his 150k a week deal after one good season where he scored over 20 goals.

Howe had to really get him going after a rough start last season.

We were in the Champions League, won a trophy, and he was a legend. What he and his agent did just shows you what he's about.

If he sucks for Liverpool, do you think he'll take less money to play somewhere else? Or will he just sit on his contract? What player does that these days. A quick look at Man Utd and Chelsea should prove this.

Dude was amazing at that, and replacing him with Frimpong was a total fail. It's not a good look when your manager plays you on the wing and a CM in your spot. Wirtz was supposed to take over Trent's offensive role, but he's just not cut out for this league. He's too weak with and without the ball. He's not worth 100 million.

If it's strictly just about the money then surely he goes to Saudi Arabia?

That offer was on the table and it was for double what Liverpool are paying him currently.

We've seen what he's like when his head drops and it's not pretty.  Ekitike getting picked before him could easily result in a full-on confidence sapping meltdown.
