Looked like he tried to trap the ball for himself but it got away from him to me

100%. You can tell by the way he twists his body after the touch, he was looking to bring it down with his right and strike on the turn with his left.

We know from his time here that his instinct in that scenario isn't to tee up a teammate.

Not a fucking chance he's done that intentionally man, not one look around to see where Gakpo was, he's under the pump clearly due to his cultish behaviour, not a chance he's laying that on for another player when he's desperately trying to impress the dippers fans & needs goals to do that.

If the dippers who are desperate to defend him are clinging onto a solitary assist that he might have meant as his sole output in PL and CL games, I can live with that as we move into mid October's games.

Still one more than Wirtz mind you.

You can see clearly from his body shape he was trying to turn and bring it down and it just happened to land in the path of his teammate. He’s probably furious.

250m on him and Wirtz who both on current form make their team weaker :llorente?:

Why stop there? The new full backs have been crap and the keeper looks worse with his feet than Douglas Bader. Only Ekitike has looked good but he’s a known headcase who’ll cause more trouble than he’s worth.

I don’t want to hear the “he’ll come good…” shite anymore, not here. He looked more himself early on and then faded into obscurity - that “assist” was a touch for himself 100%.

He has too much quality not to eventually start knocking them in. The issue Liverpool have is their attack has undergone a massive change with Diaz going, Isak and Ekitike arriving. Salah also plays very differently to what has benefitted Isak before. Pressure will build tho given his price tag. Hopefully he continues to struggle though 😂

They have no create first wingers. They have two shoot first pass second wingers. Their attackers prior to this summer were signed to get up the pitch and shoot. Their midfielders have been drilled to find Mo or Cody or Luis.

Unless Slot radically changes his philosophy or unless he gets sacked I'm not so sure

He's barely involved in play when he's out there. The guy is busy doing cardio with the odd bit of involvement

It's absolutely glorious.

He needs Szobo wide, and Salah turning into cross first. He needed Trent crossing to him and playing him in. He needs Wirtz to be a creator and in form. He needs prime Robertson crossing to him. He will get none of that.

Carroll comparisons don’t lad. Because Isak is a far better player.

He also cost a lot more money, even accounting for fee inflation. We don’t need him to turn into Ali Dia or something, even “turns out he’s only a good-ish starting striker in the prem” would be a delight.

Noticed in the first half Salah played a fairly poor ball to him (although he didn’t exactly bust his balls to make it) and he didn’t bat an eye lid. Seems to remember him constantly giving some of our lot grief for poor balls. Realisation setting in he’s not the number one any more .

Noticed him throwing his arms out for where the ball should have been played for him a few times.

Gakpo and Salah are so focused on cutting in to shoot the majority of the time it's ridiculous.

Then for some reason Slot isn't having the full backs overlap to whip crosses in consistently, even though their full backs are perfect for this.

I hope this continues the whole season.

It's only in the past 3-4 months we've discovered what a selfish, low-character twat this bloke is. I hated who we sold him to, but it's done and he's gone and we're better off without players like him. One thing that struck me while watching the match cam from the CL game the other night is what a likeable group of players we have. There's no place for players like this who put themselves before all else, regardless of the time invested in them by coaches and teammates. Good riddance honestly.
