If you were looking into the future this time last year this would be a ludicrous question but who is spending £80m on him at this point? He's not looked match fit all season, suffered a broken leg, and now is out with a long standing groin issue.

That's a massive amount of money in terms of fee for the risk involved and that's not even getting into his wages.

He’d have to go on a monumental PR drive. Apologising for behaviour. Saying his head was turned and he made a terrible mistake.

Even then, whilst it would probably make sense from a purely footballing perspective, the damage HE caused was so substantial, I don’t think it would ultimately be a good idea.

There’s no coming back from the way he carried on. Similarly, his wage profile is way out of our reach now and his fitness doesn’t justify resigning him.

He'll go out on loan to Italy, have a somewhat decent season. Get a move to Man Utd or Chelsea. Have a bang average season. Get sent out loan back to Italy. Sign permanently for Inter Milan. Do nothing for two seasons and then end up at Villa.

Yes, it’s obviously completely unrealistic, but tbf to @Dokko I’m sure he wasn’t suggesting that it was, more just a hypothetical discussion point.

I agree the first line of your post would probably be the position of the majority of the fanbase anyway.

He could crawl over vinegar soaked broken glass all the way back from Merseyside whilst whipping himself with a knotted flail and I still wouldn’t want the cunt anywhere near Tyneside. He hobbled this season before it started and the mess he instigated resulted in signings that could hamper us for years.

Fuck no to him coming back. He was the root cause of the detrimental snowball effect that this season became.

Wissa to Saudi for £50m? Snap your hands off all day for that.

Every time I feel a strong Howe Out twinge, and it's happened a lot, I think of this cunt and I hope we give Eddie the summer. Absolutely delighted that his groin has more attachment issues than a neglected rehomed pet.

After the way he treated Howe, his team mates, the fans and disrespected the club in general, there’s not a fucking chance.

He is 27 in September which should be his golden years. Hopefully his struggles continue and that groin injury continues.

He's burned that bridge but I still don't think we'll see a better striker suited to a Howe's system unfortunately.

The way he treated us still leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Nope. He didn't appreciate what he had here.  Also injury prone players don't get less problems as they get older.

I suppose the question is more interesting if you exclude the unpleasantness.

Just from a footballing point of view is he worth £50m + his wages + injury record?

I think the answer is no.

Just happy to take the £50m loss.

"Hi, we'd like to sell this broken footballer because he's never fit and on the rare ocassions he has played he's been absolutely shit. Shall we start the bidding at 80 million pounds? Anyone?"
