please post any pics of training today. I want to see the looks of other players/staff around Isak especially Tindall's...

we need to train as two friendlies coming up Friday/Saturday.

He probably won’t even train. He’ll be getting “treatment” on his “injury”.

Assuming Isak is not going, we need to move quickly otherwise Liverpool will buy our next striker target.

I saw a tweet yesterday that suggested as much.

Our next target if (when) we miss out on Sesko is Ramos (allegedly), but if we don't sell Isak to Liverpool, they'll go after Ramos instead.

Another spite signing.

I can live with that. Closes the door on the Isak move and we force him to get on with it until his move next summer.

I'm not sure I would want a player who would be happy to come here knowing he was so far down on our list of targets.

So to me there shouldn't be any question at this stage, Isak stays and we use the next season to scout for his replacement.

Now is the moment where Eddie's line about selling Isak having to be best for Newcastle United is going to be put to the test.

I really can’t see a situation where we sell him without a replacement. Would be basically be writing off a season as well as potentially tens of millions of prize money.

For me, there are two ways forward that would be acceptable:

1) We re-integrate him back into the squad and he stays until next summer when his exit can be properly managed. Only worth it if he's willing to knuckle down and not pull a sickie every third game.

2) We work with a PIF-owned Saudi team to give him a route out, accepting a bid in the region of Liverpool's. The difference would be that we add in a decent sell-on percentage, circa 50%. That would prevent Liverpool swooping in to get him cheap next summer from said Saudi team, as they won't want to sell him cheap with a massive sell-on percentage, and even if they do then we still get a total amount in excess of £150m.

Give him those two choices and let him decide.

Saudi isn't an option as UEFA won't recognise any of the transfer profit.

That's true but I thought it's a nominal fine. If that's the case surely that could be factored in?

Definitely with you there. My worry is that we capitulate to Isak/Liverpool and essentially reward the undermining of our club and entire summer window.

The way we would do that is by going so far down our list of targets we act against our interests eg. Ollie Watkins (unsuitable for PSR reasons) or Nicholas Jackson (unsuitable by being vastly inferior to Isak)

Echoing everyone’s points probably but I can’t see how he leaves now (I mean, I can but it’d be an absolute disgrace).

We get a year out of him in the shop window- get our own bidding war going- and source a replacement on our terms with a full team behind us. Get Wissa in to cover/ start and we can start to recover from this shambles of a summer.

Christ alive they've just directly funded Liverpool's bid by giving them money for Nunez - could they not have waited like? Fucking morons.

Incredible. Couldn't make it up

Thing is the Scouse have now got a bit of money to burn. So we have to say "he's not for sale this season, at any price.", else the uncertainly will drag on if there is indeed a price tag to him. The ball is in our court to emphatically state our position. Otherwise we will most certainly have no striker other than Osula for the rest of the season.

It’s the only feasible option right now.

This is the corner we've been backed into. My biggest concern is whether Isak is willing to properly apply himself this season or if he'll phone it in with a series of phantom injuries!

But no matter what, we can't sell him for a penny less than the 150m stated, I'd even argue we have every right to up that price as an 'inconvenience tax' as we'll be scrambling around the bargain bins for his replacement.

The irony is that he'd probably be in Liverpool already is the dippers didn't swipe his replacement away from us.

Makes no difference to us as the bin dippers have been told £150m plus we must have signed replacements ergo £150m no good if no replacements signed.  They should have let us sign Ekitike!!
