I am starting to think this as well . Seems daft that Liverpool would be going ahead with an offer when we have repeatedly said he's not for sale , makes me think they must be getting some sort of encouragement from his agent that a deal could be done .

I agree to an extent , but players also want as much money as they can get , don’t be fooled. 
 

I hope he signs a new contract and stays another 5/6 years but I just get a feeling Liverpool have been encouraged

Maybe the heat / destination/ quality of football /crowds / way of life has some sort of impact on Saudi decisions too !

Am sure it does. The money might be astronomical but as a sporting career move it’s awful and plenty of players are sportsmen first and millionaires second  

 

Same as there’s some players who’d be happy to be a fan favourite playing every week for us / Villa etc rather than getting paid a lot more to sit on the bench most weeks at Chelsea watching their careers stagnate

If I understand correctly, Liverpool have asked us that they are willing to make a deal for Isak in a region of 120 million if he is available. I wouldn't call that an offer, and most likely we have told them he is going nowhere, and now they are panicking and asking around for a ST, because otherwise they are stuck with Nunez who they don't want to use anymore.

The arrogance of Liverpool fans is quite astonishing to be fair. I never liked Liverpool before but they are definitely my least favourite team and fan base now. 
Mind you most of the apparent Liverpool fans who are tweeting have probably never been to Liverpool never mind anfield.

I've always hated Liverpool fans and Everton fans.  Some people from Liverpool are lovely but the under classes are not.

I’ve no problem with fans following from a far. It’s the clear glory hunting element of choosing Liverpool then boasting that they are a massive club. Aye well done you handpicked a massive successful club.

Even after the transfers in this season, they have spent less in the last 3 years than any team in the top 6.

They seem to sell average players for top money.

If Isak and his agent have instigated this with a genuine desire to move, I'm surprised we're holding out tbh. Squad coherence has been exceptional, and a want-away Isak can't be good for morale, surely. If we manage to hold on to him, Liverpool will still likely get their man next summer.

 

Just wish it wasn't those absolute wankers. Even Chelsea would be preferable.

It's the way they act all self righteous like they're the heroes of Football against the "evil" Man City and Newcastle that does it for me like.

Isak seems to have good relationships throughout the squad and with the management/coaching staff (not to forget his bond with the fans). These are the kind of ties that bind.
I’m not saying that this would stop him wanting to further his career and boost his finances, but I do think it would prevent him chucking the dummy if we didn’t let him go.

The biggest sin in recent years was the European Super League and Liverpool were well up for it.

Equal interest from the evil new money clubs, Man City and Chelsea, would probably have sealed the deal. As it was, those two did as much as anyone to collapse it.

Yes, the cartel clubs can print money and FFP/PSR barely affects them. That's why it was created in the way it was. Remember when Klopp once bragged that some clubs have no ceiling. People made out he was playing the victim but he isn't an idiot - it was a taunt. 

 

That BBC article conveniently ignores the wages they throw around. The article even cherrypicks data to imply they've spent less than Brighton. Why wouldn't you include wages? It destroys the narrative the article is trying to create. 

 

The cartel clubs all sell well but, thanks to the Saudi league, they've also been able to sell declining players on huge wages who could have been awkward to shift, such as Henderson and Fabinho.

We could probably get 120m next summer even with two years left on his contract. Premier league placing, CL campaign and re qualifying for the CL all mean millions. Unless the lad states he wants to go there’s literally no point in selling him this summer.
