Ah well, I guess he'd better score against them multiple times in an upcoming match to prove his worth then eh

They're going to call it an "audition".. Like Arsenal fans did in the semi.

Teamtalk definetly called him to ask about it. He told them that he was very interested, and told them to "tell the world about it".

Tbh it all relies on us getting CL football- if we do I am confident he stays. If not :howe:

This is how I see it. CL football, plus use some wiggle room in the sponsorship rules to give him a contract on a par with what he can get anywhere else, and he will be happy to stay. As long as the club shows it is ready to mix it with the big boys then there's no better place to be than here.

I’d assume it’s a cstch twenty-two though in that by offering him a massive contract on par with what he’d get elsewhere; we’re limiting the wages we can offer new players.

Depends on how much we can abuse the APT rules I suppose. We really need to find some way of paying top wages if we want to keep top players.

Yeah 100% mate. Haven’t looked into the APT rules properly yet but should be interesting.

Think regardless we’ll have a busy summer, and although Europe is important for keeping Isak, bringing in high calibre players will play a big part as well.

This is it.  I would assume Isak is on 100-150k.  He’ll want close to £250k imo. Looking at an extra £5m in wages for 1 player and the ceiling raised

I don’t think we can keep him without CL football and we’ll use the money for a massive rebuild. If we get CL he stays I’m sure maybe even signing a new contract.

The caveat being if we get Europa league and he’s happy enough to stay plus we hold firm on a high valuation that then prices most teams out and he’s sold the following summer with two years left in his contract and a cheaper fee for those wishing to buy (or we get champs league following season and he stays).

There’s absolutely no way we should sell him this summer with his contract being so long - CL or not.

Edit: now realise that’s kind of what you said

2 years left I’d say it’s a given he goes if we didn’t get CL, 3 years not so sure as we’ve both said

Nunez scuffs chances that Liverpool put on a plate for him. In another Prem team he's barely a 1 in 4 striker. I will genuinely be outraged if they get their money back from him from a Saudi team.

He has great movement and box instincts. Tall, fast, decent in the air. Can strike off both feet. And most impressively he doesn’t shrink when he misses.

He rushes his shooting too much and is off the cuff with his finishing.  The best finishers have stock finishes and a high level of composure for the impromptu finish. Isak has both but is weakest when he does an impromptu finish when a stock finish is better suited. Nunez has neither. But this can improve with experience and confidence.

Nunez is like Dembele to me. Got a lot of tools to be a great player but it hasn’t come together.  Dembele put it together at 27.  Nicholas Jackson is similar. There’s a lot to like imo.

Nunez is a non-starter, Liverpool rejected a £70m bid for him last month, so they would expect that sort of value in any deal. IMO he is worth around half that, he’s a player with some good raw attributes but that needs a lot of work, and he’s not a kid anymore.

I think Nunez is actually a really good player, but not a consistent goalscorer.  Fast, strong when he's not diving, plays off both feet, bit of skill.

It's just when he gets near the box, he almost always has a rush of blood to the head and misses so many good chances.  He's also constantly offside.  Not ideal traits for a striker
