I know it’s been mentioned but my god is Drury horrendous to listen to or what? Trying to make moments in the game bigger with sound bite style commentary that just comes off as totally cringe, does it appeal to anyone?

It just feels like a constant distraction from what’s actually happening on the pitch

I don’t mind him but the way he shouts a players first name and quietly says their second irritates me.

“and it’s rolled her to PEDRO!!.. Neto.. and it fizzles wide”

He's gasping to be one of the voices in those compilation videos they show pre-game. It's desperate as fuck and a drag to listen to. Ray Hudson was histrionic as a motherfucker but it's from a place of joy. Drury is just wanking in the booth.

You’ve pretty much nailed it here I think [emoji38]

Table is not looking too bad for us now really. Hopefully we can find some proper momentum and consistency going forward. There will be so many teams higher up that will drop points here and there during the season, perhaps more often than earlier seasons.

Never been worried about our home form. Sort out our away form to a decent degree at least and we will climb the table. Our best is yet to come in the league. Do well and then strengthen in January with one or two players and we can kick on.

Think TNT have got it spot on with Darren Fletcher and Ally McCoist

Pleased we're all on the same page. He's violently verbitose, the phraseology philanderer. LITERATION. LITTERER. SUPREME.

A gigantic fucking thesaurus nonce.

Don't think I heard or read a single pundit describe us as that before this weekend. `i still haven't tbh, and not surprising considering the way we've played before the last few days.

Sure. Only

Last season, with commitments domestically and in Europe, Newcastle struggled to replicate the form that saw them finish fourth in the previous campaign but this victory will boost their hopes of reaching those heights again this time around.

was the last paragraph of the BBC report on the Arsenal game. Seems fair.

I don’t listen to pundits much because I’ve been a footy fan for decades. You’re an old lag as well, aren’t you?. Just…occasionally they’re not all out to get you

All commentators are shite, they exist on a sliding scale from annoying through to terminal ear AIDS (Tyldesley, Drury)

I don’t need someone waffling away filling every available second with drivel whilst I watch sport

For years now I’ve watched games with volume muted and tunes playing. It’s aurally liberating

Spurs need to admit Son's legs have gone and get a replacement

He was absolutely brilliant against West Ham.

His legs haven’t gone, he just needs more recovery time. We’ve got to manage his minutes and hope he doesn’t play a million games for South Korea.

I used to enjoy getting high and watching the snooker with the sound off and playing records.

Will all the South Korean fans stop going to Tottenham games when Son eventually leaves ?

Their allegiance is to their national footballing hero, rather than the club isn’t it ?

low quality game.

Surprised at how poor Solanke looks for Spurs.

I think he’s the classic example of a player where only if you watch him week in and week out do you see what he brings. He’s arguably been our second best player this year after Kulu.

When we were first looking at him I had no idea if he was good or not. A couple of Bournemouth guys said he was the cornerstone of their team, that 442 guy said he was perfect for Ange. Sure. Now I see it. He never stops running, his pressing is clever and incessant, he can hold the ball up, decent pace, good distribution, good in the air, strong, good finisher. He can basically do - and is doing - everything. Just nothing flashy or out of this world. Perfect for us tbh.

Maybe. Last summer we bought an amazing-looking young Korean guy who’s hopefully going to be “the next Son” or at least quite good. We pray. Joins us in January IIRC.

Enjoying the FACR1 highlights on this inexplicably (but welcome) early MotD. With almost no exception, every non-league ground seemingly full to the brim. A glorious sight and a reminder of how important the 3pm blackout is.

Let's be honest though, Spurs are only in the cartel in name only. There's just as much if not more of a chance we finish above them than anyone else in and around it.

 That word. I’m not sure it means what you think it means.

If it’s just a description of where teams are going to finish then it’s probably Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool…and it’s not a cartel, maybe an elite?

If it’s an actual cartel of teams then either it’s the original CL ones (Arse, Liv, Man U, Chels) or the ones that didn’t want new owners to be able to spend whatever they want (add us) or the ones that wanted an ESL (add Man City).

If you’re saying we’re in the cartel in name only then it doesn’t mean anything and I’m very happy to agree we’re not

Apologies for being so voluble and pugnacious tonight . My wife is Villa and I studiously avoided mentioning the game at all in the run-up, during and after - as is the deal we have organically decided upon over the years. As we were getting into the car after visiting Bletchley Park today (with the kids and in-laws) she swore violently - her mum asked her what was up, she said bloody Spurs, scored yet again (it was our third). I said the only words I have uttered about it today. “That’s just how we roll”.

Going to be the couch tonight.
