Missed ET and pens as I was out for bait but absolutely delicious to see the embodiment of boring, cheating, blurring the lines Arsenal miss the decisive penalty with an absolute Brazilian masterclass. Sue Perb.

The game was pretty bad, made obviously because Arsenal grabbed that early goal from a mistake and enabled them to keep it tight.

Soak it up. Boot it long. HavertSS runs in to the centre back and throws himself to the floor (repeat x100). It’s absolutely fucking rank. Thank fuck the ref wasn’t having it, rare to see.

I think Kane is underrated.

There are loads of great to watch players. Yamal, Kvara, Olise and loads others I’ve missed. But I don’t think they’re the best if you’re looking at numbers.

Never failed to be impressed by Joao Neves and Vitinha.

EDIT - I forgot Dan Burn. Paul Dummett would have been in. But he’s retired now.

He’s still not getting the credit he deserves. Bayern fans know. They think they got an absolute bargain.

The numbers are historic. He just got into the all time top 10 (https://www.planetfootball.com/stats-tables/most-goals-scored-single-season-player-history-messi-ronaldo-pele) for top level goals scored in a single season. Apparently his goals per game this season is 1.18. Messi in that unbelievable 2011/12 season was at 1.19.

if that was all it’s about then he’d have an argument to be the best in the world this season but we should all know by now there’s so much more to his game. He just scored more goals in a season than any Englishman since Dixie Dean, yet he still often gets pelters from England fans for not being in the box enough at the end of moves. Bayern fans comment on how effective he is as a defender, and not just on corners, and his vision and passing is incredible.

Kane doesn’t have the speed or quick feet of Kvara, Olise, or Yamal that makes them so exciting to watch. But I think there are many footballing attributes he possesses that they either don’t have at all or have less of. And yes, there are the numbers.

I wonder what the plan is for Arsenal this summer. Attacking upgrades? I mean nothing about Arteta's attacking plan to date seems to suggest it's a talent issue.

There is a lack of talent mind.

Someone said the attackers that ended the game for them could all play for Fulham and it’s so true.

At the same time I think Martinelli and Madueke are World Cup bound.  That’s. The level these days.

Same as it has been for 4 years? Spend as much as physically possible, play shit football whine and complain Relentlessly whist pretending to be some sort of underdog.

Slightly weird thing this morning. Was walking the dogs about an hour ago and there was a guy in his (I would guess) late 50s leaning against a garden wall looking sort of quietly distraught. Like he’d just been chucked out of his house or something (it was 5:30 am on a Sunday after all), head in hands, rubbing his temples etc. As we approached him I was going to ask if he was OK then realized he had an Arsenal shirt on - it was one of the weird third strips, that sort of powder blue colour. I was still going to say something but he was so wrapped up in his own world he didn’t register us at all so I just kept walking. Felt like he would have either lunged for me or started crying on my shoulder.

Make the entire squad watch non-stop videos of Stoke City during the reign of Tony Pulis whilst strapped to chairs with their eyes clamped open like Alex in A Clockwork Orange

Was on edge last night, the thought of the most unbearable fan base and the most pathetic team in terms of how the behave on and off the pitch winning both the league and champions league wasn't really something anyone was looking forward to, hope this is their one lucky season and next season everyone gets their shit together and stop making them look better than they are.

As soon as you went near him he'd have thrown himself on the floor claiming a penalty

That is an interesting quote and like you say can only really be read that way. Why else would you be watching penalties of all these other games. It sums up the approach to management (I'm thinking Arteta here, but I think it's endemic on a wider level) - approaching every facet of the game as a fixed static element where the percentage can be tilted in your favour. There's not much romance or purism to this.

The existence of VAR probably only encourages this kind of approach as a variable coaches can control under the assumption the 'right' decision will ultimately be given.

You can absolutely tell that he has them training on how to make a handball look accidental, how to win a foul, how to foul but get away with it. Thought it since the 1-0 win a couple of years ago the way he went on when Gabriel went down under Joelinton for the goal. His reaction was fucking ridiculous and it's because he'll have known 9 times out of 10 the refs would blow for a foul. It's rancid.

Started watching it but the stream, if I had one 😉, wasn't grafting. Sacked it off for Adolescence

Kept an eye on the score tho but. Both MrsG & I suitably buoyed by a PSG equaliser.

Penultimate episode of Adolescence ended just as the penalties were starting so we flicked over.

Obviously very entertaining stuff.

No idea who the commentator was but he was spewing the usual arse licking stuff about Arsenal.

I got up to make a brew and left her to it

He goes "you have to take your heart out to the Arsenal players...."

As I left the room...."no you don't"

Then I heard "....and you have to take your heart out to Mikel Arteta..."

She goes "not here, mate"

Then "and you have to your heart out to all the Arsenal fans who....."

Honestly, all you could hear of us both, dramatically, guffawing in separate rooms 😂😂

That's why I married her 😍
