VAR takes an unreasonable length of time to make an offside decision. Semi-automated VAR takes an unreasonable amount of time to make an offside decision.

 

So why have semi-automated VAR?

 

Can’t we just have a chip in the toe of every boot and a chip in the ball, giving an instant decision relayed to the on field ref’s wrist? Forget shoulders, knees, etc. (Then the lads upstairs would only need to decide on players interfering with the keeper).

It is massively automated though.

It is the same technology that is used in the Champions League and it has came up with decisions made faster than referee’s have raised flags.

 

VAR is only there for officials to double check it as a fallback.
