If you want to spend over £200m on two players, like Liverpool have done, then you should be able to. But as shown by them, if doesn't automatically make you a better team. United have outspent a lot of clubs and it hasn't improved them. Arsenal have won 1 trophy in 6 years and have one of the highest net spends. They'll be 7 adrift - doesn't seem much but it's taken them 20 games to get just 14 so it's 50% of what they've got just to close the gap.
