How does this work in American sports ?

Draft picks and/or player swaps. Contract dumping is also a thing where you a send a player with a bad contract to another team but you'll be sending the player and draft picks without getting anything back to compensate for the bad contract. Receiving team is usually in a rebuild mode with lots of cap space.

Has there been any discussion on this imminent ruling on the Liassa Diarra case regarding transfers?

If they rule that he was unfairly restricted from moving his trade could mean that players will find it substantially easier to break their contracts. It will likely mean an independent body being set up to detirmine value of contracts that clubs will have to compensate when purchasing players but would essentially end the ability of clubs to keep hold of players 'against their will', if a player wants to break a contract they can and the buying club just has to accept whatever compensation is agreed by the body.

This will be catastrophic for smaller clubs dependent on player sales as the compensation will almost certainly be significantly lower. It will be simply illegal to stop say man city coming in for Bruno mid contract. As such player contracts will be worth a lot less. It will presumably mean cost of players will be substantially less but it will be impossible to prevent man city (and maybe us once ffp is all evened out) from just assembling who we like based on players. I would anticipate wages spiking as a means of pricing out clubs coming in for players.

A total clusterfuck in otherwords. Interesting if any other takes on it to be honest, i think it will likely be slightly less dramatic than that but looks a possibility.

He’s won his case. Eeek!

Alyson Rudd in the Times suggesting that financial cheaters Chelsea are looking like title contenders and a shoe in for a European trophy with essentially having two first teams worth many hundreds of millions each. Possibly not far from the truth tbh, but fuck me it's vomit inducing.

It's shocking like. When you look at Man City and Chelsea in particular - why are all those charges taking so long to be investigated and how have Chelsea managed to side step the rule book?

Makes you sick.

Anyone here into Walking Football? If so I apologise in advance.

I'm 60, for those that daint kna 😉, and got asked if I wanted to play walking football a few years ago. I told my mate to "get fucked"

At the time I wasn't playing any sport on account of my knees AND my clem

Recently bit the bullet and started playing proper 5/6 a side football with a bunch of blokes/kids on a Tuesday. Absolutely love it and my knees are holding up.

Another mate, who emigrated to Spain, has started playing in a Walking Football league over there. He's my age. Good footballer as well....er...back in the day

Anyways I youtuuuuubed walking football and it's fucking tragic af.

He and Pep have been together there and at Barca, I think Begiristain was actually a big reason Pep got the Barca job in the first place. He was the one who pushed for it when others weren’t keen and has had a massive part in signing key players.

Could mean Pep’s time at City is coming to a close.

my favourite ever non NUFC player. I've said this before but my dad and I watched Spain U16s in 2000 at New Ferens Park in Durham and he was easily the best player.  Followed his career ever since, little did we know he'd go on to score a World Cup winning goal.  Managed to see him and Messi at the Nou Camp for a game too which was great

Absolutely love how he dedicated his world cup goal to Dani Jarque and there's an amazing video on YouTube of every away ground he goes to giving him a standing ovation when he got substituted

What a player
